The Week In Review 10/31-11/4
Student Senate @ RHS
Student Senate kicked off this past Wednesday with 16 students in attendance. The Student Senate aims to foster leadership skills in its members, and to make sure the entire spectrum of students at RHS feels represented. First, students learned the Roberts Rules of Order which Student Senate will use to help facilitate discussion and group-decision making. They then spent time creating the Student Senate Constitution as a means of discussing objectives, protocols, roles, and the selection process Student Senate will use moving forward. Students also began to identify priorities and create sub-committees to work on those priorities. At present, these committees will focus on student engagement, mental health, student-staff relationships, and the looking at the school schedule. This committee work will be ongoing. More immediately, they are working on a staff appreciation initiative to launch in the next few weeks.
Harvard Model Congress
On Thursday there was an info-session for 9th graders to learn about Harvard University's Model Congress which is the premier government simulation conference for high school students. Harvard Model Congress is the largest congressional simulation conference in the world, run entirely by undergraduate at Harvard College. Interested 9th Graders should apply. Space is limited!

RHS in the News
RHS Custodian Dave Caramello
I want to share this bit of information about our school community members. David, one of our dedicated and very supportive custodians, is featured on CBS News Boston for his artistic skills. It is good to get to know a little bit about the people who help us get ready to provide the support needed for the education of our youngsters. Follow the link below to see Channel 4 clip on Evoke Tintype Photography. Thank you Dave!
Spotlight on RHS Programs
One Goal @ RHS
OneGoal is a nonprofit organization that works with students in low-income areas in an effort to close the opportunity gap that currently exists throughout the nation. The students in this 3-year program focus on persistence, organization, goal setting, and reflecting. OneGoal Fellows work to increase their GPA, their SAT scores, complete applications for financial aid and post secondary programs, as well as work closely with a content teacher in the school. Students are nominated to join at the end of their sophomore year, and if accepted will be in the program for their junior and senior year at RHS. As part of the program, students take a core classes (Math and/or ELA) with two RHS teachers. Ms. Katie Sinnott teaches the One Goal Math Course and Ms. Cindie Borgeson teaches the One Goal English Language Arts course.
One amazing component to the OneGoal experience is that students continue to receive support (from both the OneGoal organization and their OneGoal Program Director) for a full year after they graduate Revere High School. If you or your student is interested in One Goal, please reach out to your Guidance Counselor.

Spotlight on Community Service at RHS
RHS Community Service Requirement
The purpose of the Revere High School Community service requirement is to:
- develop relationships between the school and community
- provide diversified experiences for students
- support the mission statements of the high school and the school district;
- expand district community service experiences
- foster self-discipline, responsibility, respect, and compassion for others.
Students must complete twenty-six (26) hours of community service to meet the graduation requirement. These hours may be earned through membership in community-based student activities and clubs. Hours may also be earned through participation in out of school volunteer activities and through special projects at the high school. Accepted forms of community service are available through the Guidance Department'
Students looking to find Community Service Opportunities should reference this spreadsheet. Community members who have opportunities for service can reach out to any RHS Administrator.
Synergy Club: Advisory Thanksgiving Food Drive Competition
Synergy Club is hosting a Thanksgiving Canned/Boxed Food Drive from 11/2 to 11/16 to create Thanksgiving baskets for RHS families. We are encouraging all advisories to participate and the advisory who collects the most number of food items will get a Dunkin Donuts gift card to use as they wish!
