Happy Easter Sunday, GIS Families!

On Thursday, as many of your know, the CIUUSD Board voted to put forth a budget that eliminated one teaching position , an approximate 45K reduction in the GISU budget, and removal of athletic transportation. These eliminations result in an approximate 136K reduction in the overall budget.

The public learned that much of the increase in taxes is primarily due to the Common Level of Appraisal, which means the value of homes and what they are selling for are different.

The common level of appraisal (CLA) adjusts the locally assessed property values to the estimated fair market value. The CLA ensures that each town is treated equally and uniformly – regardless of when they last appraised. The CLA is unique in each town and is calculated annually by the Department of Taxes.

This week the VTCAP experienced some technical difficulties which resulted in testing being temporarily paused. Third and fourth grade will finish testing during the make-up week (week of 4/15.)

Grades 5 and 6 start testing this week. Please reach out to Ms. Allen and Ms. Morgan for questions about testing days.

May 10- GISU rowing regatta to be held at the Alburgh Community Education Center

Please come inside and look through our lost and found. We have dozens of jackets, sweatshirts, shoes, water bottles, hats, mittens, and other miscellaneous items. I will try to post pictures this week.
