The SDUSD CCTE Innovation Showcase is the culminating (in-person!) event to exhibit and, most importantly, celebrate all of the exciting projects that have been developed in your classrooms this year. A panel of industry professionals will assess and recognize teams for their commitments to the 6 As of PBL: authenticity, academic rigor, adult relationships, applied learning, active exploration, & assessment. Project websites and pre-recorded Presentations of Learning will be used to support the in-person showcase on May 25th. For detailed information, visit the CCTE Innovation Showcase Website.
Please reach out to Tom Antl or Christopher Millow with any questions or requests for support with entry forms, Presentation of Learning, or project preparation.

The PBL Institute will be offered twice in 2022. It is a two-week institute hosted by SDUSD to support secondary school teachers in the development of rigorous, interdisciplinary projects for implementation in the upcoming school year. Institutes are a hybrid format, with opportunities for in-person job shadows and team collaboration, as well as virtual workshops and gatherings.
Session 1: Tuesday, June 21 - Friday, July 1 and Friday, August 12*
Session 2: Monday, August 1 - Thursday, August 11 and Friday, August 12*
Sessions 1 & 2 - Exhibition: Friday, August 12th (time TBD)
For additional information including participant expectations, please visit the PBL Institute Website.
Advocators for Pollution-Free Industrialization
In their year-long project, Marston Middle School 8th graders are exploring the question: How do we enjoy the benefits of Industrialization while minimizing the destruction of our planet?
Working with an industry expert in the area of air, water, land, or energy, student teams are collecting data, creating a digital presentation, writing letters to legislators, and producing an action plan to help mitigate their defined pollution problem. Students will share their project work with their peers, Marston staff, and the greater community with the goal of encouraging others to change their behaviors.
Power Up Your PBL
The San Diego County Office of Education has worked with local district leaders in development of a new Future Ready project-based learning (PBL) framework, which is freely available for anyone to use as they support teachers in developing new projects or powering up their previous projects. These comprehensive resources include rubrics, slide decks, and screencasts for each of the elements on SDCOE's Future Ready project-based learning framework. You can use these tools to power up your own project, evaluate a new project, engage in coaching, or as a resource for a project-based learning workshop.
A great place to start with these resources is the Power up your PBL slide deck, which introduces elements of PBL as presented at Educating for Careers 2022.
