Middleton UpdateDecember 5, 2024

Dear Middleton Families, Dear Middleton Families,

Thank you all for your generous donations for our toy and gift drive to support local families. I was shocked when I saw how quickly all 80 gift tags were taken, and it's been incredible to see kids and families bring in all of the gifts they bought. THANNK YOU! All donations are due TOMORROW, DECEMBER 6th.

ATTENDANCE UPDATE: So far this year, attendance at Middleton is looking great! 89% of our students currently have attendance at 90% or above (this is considered a "regular attender.") 10% of our students fall in the 80-90% range, and many of those students are getting very close to 90%. We know from research that missing even just two days per month can cause students to fall behind academically and increase the likelihood of feeling less connected to their school community. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Plus, they are missed when they are gone! Throughout the year, you may receive emails celebrating your child's attendance, or sharing information about their attendance rate dropping, just to keep you informed. We are committed to supporting our students' attendance, so don't hesitate to reach out if you ever need support in this area. In January, in addition to regular attendance, we'll also work on decreasing the number of tardies we have each day. :)

Annual Notice for State Testing Annual Notice for State Testing

Oregon is committed to preparing every learner with academic knowledge and skills necessary for success beyond high school. Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics are fully aligned to Oregon’s State Standards and provide students in grades 3-8 and 11, along with their families, one measure of academic achievement and growth.

Oregon law (ORS 329.479) permits parents and adult students to annually opt-out of Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Mathematics by submitting an annual form. The opt out form will be provided at least 30 days prior to the start of testing. Testing will be in the spring. Specific testing windows will be shared at a later date.
