NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 5| 7 MAR 2025
God of goodness and mercy,
Hear my prayer as I begin this Lenten journey with you. Let me be honest with myself as I look into my heart and soul, noticing the times I turn away from you. Guide me as I humbly seek to repent and return to your love. May humility guide my efforts to be reconciled with you and live forever in your abundant grace. Transform me this Lent, heavenly Father. Give me the strength to make myself 100% available to you every day as I prepare for Easter.
Amen.
Dear Parents, Friends, Guardians and Staff,
Lent is the preparation period for Easter and commenced on Ash Wednesday. It reminds us of the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert fasting and being tempted. Father Peter led our school in mass on Wednesday and suggested to all students that rather giving up (sacrificing) something, they should do something for the benefit of others (such as washing the dishes).
Thank you for the Feedback from the survey. I have combined the students, staff and parent responses and highlighted below some of the key topics.
- A moderate number of parents and some students raised swimming lessons. After seeking advice from our school advisory board, we will investigate a range of options and then present these to our community in early Term 2 and seek targeted feedback on this topic.
- Our school is working with our P & F to see the return of several community activities. The school disco will return, provided we can gain enough parent helpers for the supervision of children. Please note, due to EBA changes, I cannot require our Professional Educators to run these events. Our P & F have a number of other engaging activities such as a sundowner coming too.
- Change of year level classes every two years was a hot topic and feedback from staff was aligned with parents. In early Term 3 I will outline further details on this change and what will happen in 2026.
- Our student extension and support programs were also a popular topic and as part of evidence informed practice these are under review with additional targeted student data being currently collected and we anticipate some changes to occur over Term 2.
Our Professional Educators have commenced training in the UR Strong program, this focuses on building friendship skills with common language (Relatedness) and we anticipate this to formally commence for our students in Term 2. Our Year 3 class will be one of the early adopters. The UR Strong program and language will also be incorporated into our whole school Positive Behaviour Framework and links into forthcoming student wellbeing framework. As part of improving our student wellbeing strategy, Student Voice (Autonomy) will be actively encouraged and as too tracking of general wellbeing.
We are lucky to have such a great service provider of Before and After School Care provided by Discovery Kids. I encourage busy families to use their services as we do not provide early or after school supervision of children. Our Professional Educators use this time to prepare engaging learning opportunities for your children. Our school has a policy of children not using the playground afterhours as we do not supervise and accept no liability.
May you and your family have a wonderful weekend.
Kind Regards
Michael O'Dwyer
Principal

Kindy’s First Steps into Learning!
Big things start with little steps! ✏️ Our Kindy students are busy practicing their names and settling into school life. We’re so proud of all our little learners at Holy Rosary! 💫
Mindful March has come to the library at a great time, coinciding with Lent, the heat and middle of term. Lunchtime activities have changed to mindfulness Tuesdays, Chess Wednesdays and Crochet Club Thursdays. We will be working on Worry Worms so if you have a crochet hook your child can bring in to use, we will continue to work on this as a starter project.
Have a great time on camp Year 6’s – I will miss the work of my Library Monitors and am grateful for the help from my Year 5 support team for next week – Gianna, Paige, Talia, Chloe, Genevieve, Abigail and Lily.
Numero Club is proving to be a big hit on Friday mornings from 7.40 - 8.10am in the library. Students in Years 3 – 6 are welcome to join.
Congratulations to 5C for all remembering their library books and bags – they are enjoying the trophy in their classroom.
