"Stay in the Loop" 2024-2025 8th Edition
Principal Letter
I wanted to take a moment to share just how incredibly proud I am of our 4th and 5th graders for their remarkable performance in this year’s Veteran's Day program. Under the direction of our talented music teacher, Mrs. Smith, our students sang and played patriotic songs on the bells, filling the gymnasium with a beautiful tribute to those who serve and have served. It was a moving experience to see them honoring our veterans and active military members through music and words.
Several students were chosen to read their essays, each one heartfelt and thoughtful, reflecting their appreciation for the sacrifices made by our veterans. We were also fortunate to have a special guest speaker, Lance Corporal Dominic DeJohn, whose powerful words resonated with all of us. Mr. DeJohn, father of Nico (K) and Luca (3rd), shared lessons he learned throughout his life and service, reminding us of the value of honoring others through service, cherishing the blessings we have, and recognizing the precious and limited nature of our time here. As he said so well, “Life begins with a commitment to something larger than ourselves, and our true purpose is to serve our loved ones and our God.”
It was an honor to welcome so many veterans and active military members in the audience, and I was extremely proud of our students’ respect and attentiveness throughout the entire 75-minute program. Their behavior demonstrated their understanding of the importance of giving our veterans the honor they truly deserve.
Thank you to Mrs. Smith, our students, and everyone involved in creating this special event. It was a day that not only celebrated our heroes, but also reminded us all of the power of gratitude and the call to serve one another. God bless our country and our military!
Sincerely,
Lisa Ruth
