The staff and students at Howbert value our volunteers and welcome our visitors!

To ensure the safety of the students, staff, volunteers, and visitors, make sure you check in and out of the front office when you are in the building.

If you are volunteering, we ask that you register as a volunteer before you come to the school. This allows for a quicker check-in. You can register as a volunteer online here: Volunteer Registration page. You only need to do this once and it will last a couple of years.
If you are just visiting you do not need to register as a volunteer, but please check-in and out at the front office.

When parking near the school in the neighborhood, please be courteous to our neighbors.

Avoid parking in front of fire hydrants or across a driveway.

Dear Families,

We invite you to express gratitude to our amazing staff during this holiday season. Please use THIS FORM to share your appreciation and to recognize the positive impact our educators have on your student and family. When you submit this form, a certificate will be created and given to the staff member you've recognized. You are welcome to complete more than one.

Have you heard about the Howbert Guiding Coalition but are not sure what it is about?

Would you like to be part of a team that partners with the school, learns about how it runs and provides valuable input?

You should give the Howbert Guiding Coalition a try!

The Howbert Elementary Guiding Coalition:

• Is not the same as the Howbert PTO, it has different outcomes.
• Meets four times a year (1 hour).
• You are welcome to come to one or all four of the meetings.
• You can attend virtually from the comfort of your home.

The next Howbert Elementary Guiding Coalition will be held on Tuesday, December 17th from 4:00-5:00

Here is the agenda for the meeting:

• School Improvement Plan - Update
• Information about our school-wide social, emotional, and behavior support system
• We will need your feedback on our after school clubs
• School budget and what is changing for next year

These are the fabulous clubs that are coming up at Howbert! Please gauge your child's interest and remind them to get a permission slip from their teacher if they would like to join. Spots in clubs are very limited so please try to only sign your child up if they can make it to all of the dates and if they are truly interested in attending. Thank you!

🎀American Girls Club - 1st-5th Grades: Discover history through the American Girl club! Permission slips for 3-5 Grades due 11/19. Permission slips for 1-2 Grades coming soon.

👾Girls Coding It - 2nd-5th Grades: Mondays & Tuesdays, Dec. 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17th @2:50-4:00pm. Permission slips due 11/20.

🎨Studio Art Club - 2nd-5th Grades: Tuesday, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17 @2:50-4:00pm. Permission slips due 11/22.

🏕Camping Club - 1st & 2nd Grades: Dec. 4, 5, 12 @2:50-4:00pm. Permission slips due 11/20.

The Cougars Care Corner Market is now open for the 2024-2025 school year!

The Corner Market is a food distribution site partnered with Care and Share to help meet the tangible needs of the community.

Everything is free, you just take what you need and leave enough for others. Everyone may come on Thursdays from 3:00 - 6:00 when the Corner Market is open to the community.

The Corner Market supplies fruit, veggies*, non-perishable goods, snacks, school supplies, toiletries, hygiene products, clothing items, etc. when available.

*We have a limited amount of fresh produce but will supply what we can.

The Corner Market serves our entire community, so please utilize it!

The staff and students at Howbert love to have volunteers at the school supporting learning. If you would like to volunteer, please speak with the classroom teacher or contact the front office to share with us how you would like to help.

One of the first steps all volunteers must take, is to complete the Colorado Springs School District 11 Volunteer Application.

It is best to complete the application prior to visiting the school to volunteer.

About the Howbert PTO

Your Howbert Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has evolved from a PTA, which has been active since the 1980s and hosts many of the fun events that Howbert offers! We also facilitate the fundraising efforts for the school. With these we have provided such opportunities as:

• Family Game (BINGO) Nights
• Field Trips
• Supplies
• Tables & Shade Structures for outdoor classroom spaces
• So much more!
