Start with Hello
What is Start with Hello Week?
Start with Hello is a national awareness campaign dedicated to creating a sense of belonging among youth by helping them make new social connections. Start With Hello Week promotes positive relationships and the power of reaching out to those who feel left out.
We are participating in Start with Hello Week to help students make social connections with their peers and support a positive school culture.
Our goal is to help students:
Recognize loneliness and social isolation in their peers
Make a difference for students who need connection
Create an empathetic and inclusive community
Why Does it Matter?
Research shows that feeling socially isolated negatively affects mental health, physical health and cognitive function in students, adults and the elderly.
Strong social connections are one of several protective factors that can contribute to an individual's overall wellness.
We can make a difference in our community by practicing empathy and seeking to understand others.
What are Protective Factors?
Protective factors are conditions or attributes in individuals, families and communities that promote the health and well-being of children and families. They can reduce:
bullying behaviors
self-harm and suicide
substance abuse
child abuse and neglect
Strong protective factors help ensure positive outcomes for students, improve academic achievement and support overall wellness.

Bound for Success- College & Career Coach
We are excited to continue our partnership with UTA and the Bound for Success program! The Bound for Success program is a partnership between UTA and Aledo ISD where a dedicated College and Career coach works on our campus 2 days per week. When here, Jayle will be working with students on college applications, financial aid, and so much more. While he does work for UTA, Jayle can partner with you to help you with any college or technical school application to ensure you have the support you need. Jayle has a wealth of knowledge in post-secondary planning and will work in partnership with our Counseling Team to bring another layer of service and support for our AHS students! We are so excited to welcome Jayle to our team!
Students can request to see him by scanning the "Request to see the Counselor" QR codes around the building. Students and parents can also reach out via email. jvongphakdy@aledoisd.org

Why should my student take the ASVAB?
The ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) can help students in many ways, including:
Identifying strengths and weaknesses
The ASVAB measures skills and aptitude in areas like math, science, reading, writing, and problem solving. This can help students identify their strengths and weaknesses, and discover new strengths they may not have known they had.
Planning for the future
The ASVAB can help students plan their next steps after high school, including post-secondary plans and career options.
Exploring careers
The ASVAB can help students identify careers that align with their interests and skills. The CEP includes a career database, occupational interest assessments, and planning tools.
Learning about job trends
The ASVAB provides access to information on job trends, salaries, and state-based job demands.
Enlisting in the military
ASVAB scores can be used to enlist in the military for up to two years after the test date.
