Over 32,000 Meals Packaged at 11th Annual Feed6 Event at OLHMS

In partnership with Feed6-Outreach, Oak Lawn-Hometown School District 123 hosted its 11th annual meal packaging event at Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School. Events like this help local families, kids, veterans, and senior citizens. Nearly 200 volunteers - students, staff, and community members - joined forces to package nutritious meals of pasta in basil marinara sauce for neighbors in need.

Wheel Of Fortune

Make sure you watch The Wheel of Fortune on Monday December 23 on ABC 7 at 6:30 to see Hometown Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Sweetser. Last December, Mrs. Sweetser was watching an episode of the Wheel of Fortune and her son said, "You love this so much, you should apply to be on the show."

1, 2, 3, 4! Kolmar Declares a Penny War!

The Kolmar 5th grade enrichment students had a wonderful idea to have a fundraiser for Project Fire Buddies. They decided to hold a penny war competition at Kolmar over the span of a week. Students in each grade had a jug to fill for their grade-pennies would give them points- silver coins would deduct points.

Sounds of the Season

Mrs. Glikis led the Sward Chorus, Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students in a wonderful winter concert on Thursday, December 12, 2024. The students joyfully sang holiday-themed songs, spreading festive cheer and celebrating the season through music. Thank you, Mrs. Glikis - your concerts never disappoint!

Successful Lady Mustang Basketball Season!

The Our Lady Mustangs showcased their incredible talent at the 2024 SWIC Conference Tournament, ultimately finishing as runners-up in the championship games. In the 6th/7th grade championship matchup against Palos, the Lady Mustangs fought valiantly but came up just short, losing by a single basket.

Heartwarming Cookies and Cocoa

Heartwarming Cookies and Cocoa Smiles, laughter, and the scent of fresh hot chocolate filled the air as families gathered for The Early Learning Center's Cookies and Cocoa Celebration on Thursday, December 19th. Over 160 families joined students for a day filled with holiday cheer, warm cocoa, and delightful activities.

Cans, Kindness, and Community: Student Council's Food Drive Success!

The Student Council, alongside Ms. Sitterly and Ms. Dow, extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who contributed to our recent food drive for the Pilgrim Faith Food Pantry. Located just around the corner from our school, this partnership supports a truly local cause, directly benefiting families in need within our community.

As winter break approaches, the festive spirit is alive and well at Hannum Elementary! This past Wednesday our K-2 concert was a joyful celebration of the season bringing together students, families, and staff in a wonderful display of talent and holiday cheer.

In addition to his legacy as a teacher, principal, and superintendent in Oak Lawn, Carl A. Sward was also a talented composer. He even wrote the Sward School Song in 1952, which is now proudly framed in Sward's hallway. The above image also shows a holiday greeting card he sent to a couple in Gary, Indiana, in 1937, which includes a special Christmas song he wrote.
