Principal's Message
Dear Thunder Eagle Families,
As we are winding down the 2023-2024 school year I want to note that next week is going to be a busy time of celebration for our students and staff. On Monday, we will be holding our final leadership assembly of the year where we will be recognizing our May and June character trait award winners. Wednesday afternoon we will be having our talent show, Thursday evening we will be hosting Celebration Night here at LRE, and Friday afternoon we will be having field day. There are various spirit days and other fun activities going on this week as well. I hope that you can join us for some or all of these celebratory events!
Sincerely,
Julana Hardtke, Principal
Liberty Ridge Elementary School
Due to a conflict, Mauka Shave Ice will not be able to join us at this event
Student Medication Pick Up
Please remember to pick up your student's medications from the health room prior to summer break. EpiPen's must remain in the health room until the last day of your students' attendance at school as required by state law. Medications that are not picked up prior to the health room closing for the summer will be destroyed per state guidelines.
Field Day is on Friday June 14th, so parents with students who require an inhaler may want to pick up at a later date.
Times the nurse will be available in the health room outside of the scheduled school day hours include:
Thursday June 13th 5:30 PM to 7 PM at Celebration Night
Monday June 17th until 3:30 PM
Tuesday June 18th until 3:30 PM
Thursday June 20th 8 AM until 2:30 PM
Please call the health room with further questions or concerns.
Medications may not be picked up by students per Washington State law.
Calendar Update 6/17
Monday, June 17 will be a two hour early release, in lieu of a late start, to support attendance at Graduation. Like last year, it is a regular work day for staff, with morning meetings taking place after school rather than before. Advisory will not be held at secondary schools that day.
For your information, Sumner High School graduation will begin at 4:00PM and Bonney Lake High School will begin at 7:00PM. Student start and end times for the day will be as follows:
Sunscreen at School
Students are now allowed to bring and apply sunscreen without a
Physician’s Order. Substitute Senate Bill 5404, signed last year by
Governor Inslee, allows students to bring FDA-approved
topical sunscreen to school without a prescription. Spray sunscreens are
not allowed.
1. Parent or student can apply sunscreen before leaving for school.
2. Students can self-apply the sunscreen to themselves at school. Staff
will not be able to assist.
3. Student’s name should be written on the sunscreen container with a
permanent marker.
4. Students are not allowed to share their sunscreen with others
because of allergy risks.
5. Send ONLY rub-on sunscreen to school, preferably unscented.
a. Many students do not have the coordination to effectively
apply spray sunscreens only on themselves.
b. Spray sunscreens in the crowded school settings are a
recipe for getting sunscreen in the eyes, mouths and noses
of other students.
c. Spray sunscreens are particularly risky for our students with
asthma, air-borne allergies and other respiratory conditions.
