Principal Message
What an exciting week it has been! We’re proud to share that we had our first fire drill, and our students did an AWESOME job—evacuating the building safely and calmly in just 3 minutes! Their focus and cooperation were impressive, and it was a great way to reinforce what they’ve been learning about respect—respect for rules, safety, and each other.
On top of that, we want to extend a huge thanks to our amazing PTA. With their help, we've added flags from around the world to celebrate the diversity of our school community. Each flag represents the unique cultures and backgrounds that make our school a special place to learn and grow. Check out pictures on our Facebook and Instagram pages. As always, we’re thrilled to be on this journey with you. Let’s keep the momentum going as we continue to build a positive, respectful, and fun learning environment for our students!

Character Trait of the Month
Each month we will focus on a character trait at school. This month’s focus is Respect. One way to think about Respect is “seeing value in all people and things & treating them with care.” Many people feel Respected in different ways and we hope this month inspires discussions with your family about what Respect means to you and how you can practice it together!
Review Respect as a family! Remember that in our lessons we are teaching that Respect means to see value in people and things and treat them with care. Agree as a family to set aside a certain time each day this week to unplug from devices and plug into family time. It shows Respect to practice being present in the moment without the distractions that can come from technology. Debrief and discuss this challenge afterward and commit to this practice at least 1 day each week!
Conversation Starters:
- How can you check to see if you understand someone else’s perspective?
- Why is practicing perspective-taking important when trying to show someone Respect?
Drop Off and Pick Up
Team, our drop off and pick up performance has really become an impressive, efficient, and most importantly, safe process! We can't thank you enough for your patience and help in improving this system for our students.
We have a couple of requests that will continue to improve this experience for our kiddos as they begin their day.
- We love our Laker pups, but please keep all dogs only in the areas with grass and off the sidewalks. We have many students arriving at school with a fear of dogs. We love our Laker Pups, but we love our Lakers more!
- Also, please do not drop students off by themselves in the parking lot. This creates moving cars and kids in the same area, which is exactly what we are trying to eliminate. Either park and walk your student to the side entrance, or remain in line and join our drive-up drop off procedures.
