Big T Weekly
September 6, 2024
A Message From the Principal
Dear Big T Families,
This was a short but fun week of learning. With this great weather many classes are enjoying the use of the outdoor classroom for some of their learning. That is always a special benefit for our Big T students.
Chromebook Insurance
There is a new chromebook insurance option! Details can be found on our Tech 4 All website.
We are bringing back the 100 Mile Club this year, thanks to Chelsi Woodcox. The 100 Mile Club will start on 9/11 @ 8:15 on the upper playground. This first time will start with a quick parent meeting. Please see the flyer (in your student’s Friday folder or the one in this newsletter) for more details.
The roadwork that we mentioned earlier this year will start on Tuesday, September 10th. Paving will happen on County Road 27 from the hours of 8:30 - 2:30. This should not interfere with pick up or drop off of the school.
Have you completed your annual family check in?? It will be closing at the end of September. This is important to update your information including approved pick up people for your student and school year permissions. See the information below in the newsletter for instructions or contact portal@tsd.org for assistance.
Have a great weekend!
Most Sincerely,
Sarah Walgast
Principal
HELP WANTED! This year marks the 73rd Annual Chili Supper and Auction Fundraiser and it takes our amazing volunteers to make it happen. Come to the first Chili Supper meeting to learn more and find out how you can help make this a successful event that benefits our students, staff, and school community! Can't make the meeting? We get it! Email Pam at bigtpta@gmail.com and ask how you can help.
Don't miss out on the Big T Fall Family Movie Night featuring Kung Fu Panda 4! We are thankful for Big T parent and owner of Sweetheart City Living, Lauren Haug, for providing Kona Ice for all families! Kids can play and parents can connect while enjoying this special treat before we head to the upper playground for the outdoor movie. And, we'll have NEW Big T Spirit Wear available too!
Please be sure to complete your Annual Family Check-In for this school year
Have you updated your Annual Family Check-in (AFC)? Are you receiving communication via phone, text and email? Pick your preference while you review your Annual Family Check-in! The AFC is required for ALL current students in Thompson School District. Families are required to have a parent or guardian in the current student’s primary household review and sign permission forms and update (if needed) the student’s household information, emergency contacts, and health information. Annual Family Check-In is located in the Parent Portal Account. For assistance, please contact Portal@TSD.org.
Looking for something fun to do this weekend? A school volunteer told us that the Denver Mineral, Fossil, Gem and Jewelry show is being held at the National Western Complex 4655 N. Humbolt Street from Sept 6 - 15th. The hours are 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM and has free admission and free parking. Please confirm details for yourself before going at https://denvergem.show/
PTA Donation Partnership
We are excited to announce this incredible opportunity for our school. Cooper Construction is offering to donate $1,000 to the Big T PTA for every roofing referral it receives from Big T.
This generous offer comes from a Big T family and the company "Dad" works for locally.
Thank you to Josh Woodmansee and Cooper Construction!
Messages From The Office
* When your student is absent it is a good idea to reach out to their teacher to get work to do at home. However, still call the attendance line or email the office to excuse the absence. Teachers are busy and may not have time to let the office know that the absence was excused through them.
You can now excuse the absence through the parent portal if that is more convenient for you.
* If your student is absent due to an appointment, please get a medical note from the clinic and send it to the front office. Medical appointments with a note are the only absences the state of Colorado considers as excused for their count purposes.
* Remember, if you need to change how your student normally goes home please call or email the office before 2:30 PM. Stacey.faykosh@tsd.org or 970-613-5600
* Please remember that toys are to remain at home. They can be a distraction in the classroom and there are tears if the toy disappears.
**Small lost and found items are usually kept at the office.
