Charger Nation
August 2025
September 2024
As we move deeper into the school year, it’s inspiring to see our students settling in and thriving in both academics and extracurriculars. Students are taking part in clubs, extracurriculars and athletics. Classrooms are filled with students engaging in dynamic learning experiences, while the energy outside is equally electric with the fall athletic and marching band season in full swing. Many of our teams are heading into postseason play, and the excitement is palpable as our athletes, musicians, and guard demonstrate their skill, perseverance, and sportsmanship. Whether in the classroom or on the field, our students are pushing themselves to new heights, and we couldn’t be prouder of their efforts. Thank you for your continued support as we cheer on their success both academically and athletically.

Sophomores and Juniors - PSAT Day - October 9
On Wednesday, October 9th, Carroll High School will be administering the PSAT to all sophomore and junior students. As we make preparations for this day, I would like to share some logistical items that you should be aware of. We consider this an important opportunity for our students as the scores from the PSAT exam help qualify them for the dual credit course offerings that we have at Carroll High School. Juniors also have the opportunity to be eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program with their performance on the PSAT. The exam is also a great practice for the upcoming school day SAT that juniors will be taking in March as a graduation fulfillment requirement. While students should not stress about this exam, we do hope you encourage your child to do their best on it.
10th and 11th grade students will report to their designated testing area (Home Room) by 8:35 a.m. It is critical that students arrive on time so the test can be administered in a timely fashion. All 10th and 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 9th.
At the conclusion of the test (approximately 12:00-12:30 pm.), 10th and 11th grade students will be allowed to leave school. Please complete the appropriate permission form to allow your child to leave school at the conclusion of the PSAT test. This must be submitted by Monday, October 7th at 5 PM.
Buses will still run on their normal times in both the AM and PM routes. Therefore, students who depend on the bus will report to the designated areas in the morning. All students will have the option to eat lunch. The 10th and 11th grade students will be able to eat lunch at the conclusion of their testing session which again will be approximately 12:00-12:30.

Freshman - PSAT Day - October 9
Freshman - PSAT Day - October 9
On Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Carroll High School students will participate in various activities that are focused on postsecondary opportunities. While the 10th & 11th grade students will be participating in the PSAT at Carroll High School, the freshman class will be completing a career inventory and questions from home.
We want to take full advantage of this opportunity to have our freshman students complete this inventory and then respond to the questions provided by our freshman counselors. This information assists our staff as we look at opportunities we can provide for our students as well as guide conversations between counselors, students and parents.
The career inventory will be posted on the Class of 2028 Canvas page on October 9th under the College & Career button.
Students, in order to successfully document that you completed the Career Quiz you MUST also submit this Google Response Form.
Please complete both items by 5 PM on Wednesday, October 9th to be counted present for the day.
We are excited about providing this opportunity for our freshman.

College Apps
2. Create account with Parchment.com & request transcript to be sent to colleges you apply to unless the college uses the common application and then student does not need parchment.
3. The counselor portion & transcript will then be completed & sent to these colleges by Mrs. McClure or Ms. Fox.
4. Make sure you are aware of the application deadlines. Your application needs to be completed at least a week before the deadline.
5. If you need a recommendation to go along with your application, choose someone who knows you well, tell them what it is for, and give them at least a week to complete it.
6. If you are in Career Exploration Internship, add that to your application if possible and explain what it is, how it works, and how it has benefited you. Some colleges may look at your transcript and see an Internship listed but not really know what it is all about.
Synchronous Learning
As a reminder, we will be implementing synchronous learning in the event that we need to cancel our regular school day. This means that we will be providing live instruction to students on days when we are unable to attend onsite. Our hope is that this method of instructional delivery will keep learning moving forward in a productive and engaging format. Built-in make-up days are still included in our school calendar should they be needed due to extenuating circumstances such as extended periods of severe weather or a weather cancellation during the week of semester finals.
The daily schedules for live instruction at each level of learning are provided below:
- Elementary: 9:30am-Noon
- Middle School: 9:00am-12:55pm
- High School: 9:00am-12:25pm
The expectations for students will be that they are actively attending live sessions on synchronous learning days. Having stated this, we do understand that situations arise that do not make this possible, and flexibility and alternatives will be provided to students when necessary.
Library News
Our library inventory and checkout system is managed electronically through a program called Destiny. Students and parents can log-in to Destiny at any time to view the library books that are currently checked-out and the past check-out history. Destiny access for each building can be accessed through the district website at https://destiny.nacs.k12.in.us/ .
In order to access Destiny, parents and students use their district username (the first five letters of their last names followed by the first three letters of their first names (i.e. Brian Johnson = johnsbri)) and the password that is used to log-in to their school computers.
Elementary students’ passwords consist of their student numbers followed by the first four letters of their teachers’ last names (first letter of teacher last name is capitalized (i.e 12345678John).
Secondary students’ passwords are unique to each student, and you can obtain this information from your child.
