The orphan train was a government supervised welfare program in the united states that was actually a train to transport orphan children from the big crowded cities on the east coast to the rural areas of the Midwest.
When did this happen?
This train lasted from 1854- 1929 and an estimated 250,000 orphan children were removed from New York streets.
