5th Grade CoGAT Reports
Earlier this month, 5th graders took the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). The CogAT evaluates the level and pattern of cognitive development of students, as well as their abilities in problem-solving using verbal, quantitative, and spatial (nonverbal) reasoning. The CogAT measures developed abilities, which begin at birth and continue through early adulthood. Scores will be used to adapt instruction in ways that enhance the student’s success in learning.
This information will be used as part of a Universal Screening process to identify learners who may require additional classroom interventions to meet their instructional needs. If the Universal Screening team develops a specific plan for your child, you will be contacted.
The results of this assessment are coming home with your child today. The information gathered is not used in any calculation of report card grades - since it is not directly connected to standard or skill achievement. The report includes age-normed results.
Please contact your child’s teacher with any questions.

6th Grade Fab Lab
Fab Lab (short for Fabrication Lab) is an after school club offered at Lake Denoon throughout the school year and is advised by Mr. Todd Sobczyk (Tech Ed Teacher). Fab Lab will create 4 different projects, each geared to a different grade level or grade band. All grade levels will have an opportunity to participate in Fab Lab sometime throughout the school year.
This project is for 6th grade students. These students will create Scrabble Wall art. During this time students will use the CNC machines, power sanders, and paint/stain.
Fab Lab will be held from 3:15 - 4:15 on February 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th in the LDMS woodshop. Please only sign up if you are committing to meeting every single club meeting, as the project will take all 4 days to design and create. Please arrange for your own transportation and prompt pick up at 4:15.
This no fee club is limited to the first 20 students that sign up. Please sign up here. You will receive an email confirming your participation and next steps.

Proper Chromebook Care
We have recently seen some unique damage to Chromebooks that we want to bring to your attention of our families. Attached is a picture of the most common intentional damage we are experiencing. This is the result of the panel that rests between the keys of the keyboard being intentionally peeled off. This is not something that is easy to do or can happen accidentally. This damaged keyboard costs $90 to replace. Please take a moment to talk with your student about proper Chromebook care.
Please remember that the Chromebook belongs to the district and your student is borrowing it while at Lake Denoon. Purchasing the insurance does not cover intentional damage, please see the Muskego Norway Chromebook Service Plan.
Please contact Monica Keough or Amy Kounelis x7407 with any questions or concerns.
