This week is Generation Texas Week! Generation Texas Week is about exploring our options after school high. Some people choose to go to college, others choose to go to the military, and others go right into the work force. We invite our students to participate in the daily themed dress up days:

Monday - We are College Bound! Wear a college shirt or sweatshirt.

Tuesday - We are Conroe ISD proud! Wear a Conroe feeder shirt or a Patterson Puma shirt.

Wednesday - Our future is bright! Wear bright colors.

Thursday - We can go the Military way! Wear camo gear.

Friday - When I grow up.... Dress up as your future self.

This Thursday is Kona Ice day! Students can purchase a $3 Kona Ice during recess and proceeds will come back to Patterson Elementary. Thank you for your continuing support of our wonderful school!

Referral requests are now open for the Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or campus staff. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher. Referrals will be accepted October 1- December 19, 2024. You may request a referral form from the front office or the Counselor. You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.

Conroe ISD is hosting an Alternative Certification Information night on Tuesday, November 12, at the Jett Center starting at 5:30 p.m. Registration for this event is now open and can be accessed on the District's website. If you already have a degree and you've thought about becoming a teacher, you are invited to attend this event.

Patterson Dads, Granddads, Uncles, and Father Figures,

We are excited to invite you to become a Watch DOG (Dad of Great Students) at Patterson Elementary School! As a Watch DOG, you can make a positive impact on our students by volunteering your time in various ways throughout the school day.

Here are some opportunities where you can lend a hand:

• Arrival Assistance: Help unload cars and greet students as they arrive in the morning. (7:00-8:00 AM)
• Lunch Duty: Assist with supervising students during lunch. (10:30-1:30 PM)
• Classroom Volunteering: Morning Session: 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM or Afternoon Session: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM

• Cell phones and smartwatches may be used respectfully and responsibly before school and after school.

• Cell phones and smartwatches should not be used to capture video, audio, or images at school or on the bus.

• Cell phones and smartwatches should be set on silent mode and kept in backpacks, lockers, or other designated storage areas and should not be visible during school hours including instructional time, reward time, free time, lunch, and in the hallways.

• Use of cell phones and smartwatches may be permitted in extenuating circumstances with permission from a staff member. (ex. to notify parent/ guardian of a late bus)

• Please pack an extra pair of clothes, including underwear and socks, in your child's backpack daily (accidents and spills happen often) …even 4th graders.
• It is important to call, email, or send a note to the nurse and teacher if your child is having any type of health problem on a particular day. This is extremely helpful for the nurse if your child presents to the clinic.

REGARDING MEDICATION:

In order for the nurse to give your child any medication (over the counter or prescription) a current, written doctor’s order is encouraged:

1. The medication must be approved for your child's age by the FDA (herbs cannot be given)

2. The medication must be in the original container

3. Prescription medication must have the current prescription label on the bottle or inhaler

4. The medication must be brought to the nurse by the parent/ guardian and permission form signed

5. Per CISD Policy, children are not allowed to transport medication (prescribed/ OTC)

REGARDING ILLNESS:

A student will be sent home from school with the following symptoms:

• Temperature of 100 degrees or more

If your child is sent home with fever of 100 or more, please keep your child home until fever- free for 24 hours without fever- reducer medication. This ensures your child is well and will not spread illness at school. A student should not be sent to school if a fever- reducing medication is required to get the temperature below 100 degrees

• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Too ill to function in the classroom
• Suspected contagious condition or disease

• Pre-k, Kinder, 1st and 3rd graders and those new to Texas, will have vision and hearing screenings this fall. Referrals will be sent home with those who fail. If your child has already had a screening with their medical provider you may send a copy to the clinic and we will update their health record.

Your child will receive a Standards Based Report Card (SBRC) at the end of each grading period.

1st grading period ends October 10th

2nd grading period ends December 20th

3rd grading period ends March 7th

4th grading period ends May 23rd.

Click on Standards-Based Learning & Reporting and it will take you to the CISD SBRC page. From there, you can read how to better understand SBRCs, see example Report Cards, view proficiency scales, watch videos, learn the benefits of SBRCs, and get tips for talking with your children.

• Our doors open at 7:00 for all students.
• Students are counted "tardy" after 7:55. Instruction begins promptly at 8:00 and we want our students present and ready to learn!
• Breakfast is served from 7:30-7:55.
• Transportation changes need to be made by 2:15. Emergency transportation changes can be made no later than 2:30.
• Students will not be checked out after 2:15.
• Dismissal begins at 3:10.
• Please display your car sign when picking your students up each day. This is for the safety for all students and to help our staff and substitutes on duty.
