Independence at SVES

We are now eight days into the 24-25 school year, and our students have been doing great! It has definitely been a period of adjustment for some students, but it gets better as they perform routines and procedures independently. We are requesting that parents drop students off at the first set of double doors, in both the front and back of school drop off locations, and allow their students to enter the building independently. We have staff members stationed throughout the school to ensure that your child will get to his or her class safely. Thank you for your continued support!

Lunch Visitors

We look forward to welcoming visitors back for lunch with their student(s). Please follow these campus practices:



  • Lunch visitors are welcome beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2024. The first two full weeks of school have provided time for our teachers set procedures and for students to practice those procedures.
  • Guests must check in with their photo ID in our front office. You are welcome to bring in outside food for your child, but please do not share food with classmates.
  • All visitors will eat with their child at the designated tables for families. Guests may not eat with the class. Students may not bring a friend to the visitors table.
  • We ask that students say their goodbyes when their child's grade level lunch is over. Visitors may not remain in the halls or walk their students to class.
  • Visitors must exit through the front office.

SVES will continue to be a phone-free environment. KISD has implmented a policy aimed at reducing student distractions and minimizing interruptions to the learning environment. Learn more about the policy here.

Grade Level Newsletters

Parent University will be Thursday, September 5th!

Come join us as we review grade level curriculum and your child's daily schedule. The intent of this night is to help parents understand how to support your child's success at home and at school. Please review the schedule below:


5:15-5:30 pm - Title I PTA Parent Meeting

5:30-6:15 pm - Grades K-2

6:15-7:00 pm - Grades 3-5
