Week of January 27th - Feb. 1st
Dear Parents/Guardians & Students,
I want to take a moment to remind everyone about last week’s message regarding the dress code. As outlined in the Student-Parent Handbook, it is important that all students follow the guidelines for appropriate school attire. This week, we will focus on helping students meet those expectations. Please review the dress code with your student to ensure they are prepared for school each day.
This week, we will also be running academic eligibility checks. Students, please stay on top of your assignments and ensure all work is completed and submitted on time. Keeping up with responsibilities is key to success in both academics and extracurricular activities.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are just around the corner, taking place next week. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with your child’s teachers, discuss their progress, and set goals for the remainder of the semester.
Parents and guardians of 8th graders, a letter was mailed out with important information regarding 8th-grade graduation. Please check your mail for that letter, as it contains key details to help you prepare for this special milestone.
I am thrilled to share some incredible news about our band program!
- Last Friday, Isabella Polm, Noah Ranallo, Archer Spears, and Aiden Teague participated in the District Honor Band Clinic, with Trowa Sander being selected as an alternate. We are so proud of their hard work and accomplishments!
- Additionally, we received results for the EOBDA Honor Band, which will take place in Eufaula on February 1. We had an amazing 10 middle school students selected for the band—Isabella Polm, Wyatt Bedford, Toby Cawyer, Zoey Cregan, Aiden Teague, Jake Kitchell, Archer Spears, Kaydence Bolton, Jacob Bedford, and Trowa Sander! Isabella, Wyatt, and Jacob achieved the honor of being first chair in their sections. This is likely the most students we’ve ever placed in the band, and I couldn’t be prouder of them.
- Lastly, I want to recognize our incredible band director, Mrs. Carol Rosso, who was recently named SEOBDA Band Director of the Year! Mrs. Rosso’s talent, dedication, and passion for music have a profound impact on our students, and this recognition is so well-deserved. We are lucky to have her guiding our band program.
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s make it another great week!
Sincerely,
Nicole Green
Principal

HMS Building-Wide Expectations
Classroom Expectations
These are our school-wide expectations for our students. Positive behavior fosters an environment where ALL students can learn and grow. It is our hope that our HMS families will discuss our school-wide behavior expectations and encourage positive behaviors at school and home.
Common Areas Expectations
Our school-wide expectations extend beyond the classroom. It is important that students also realize they are accountable for their behaviors in the hallway, cafeteria and at all school sponsored activities on and off campus.
