The two primary components of Data-Based-Individualization to provide intensive intervention are assessment and progress monitoring. This Smore is a compilation of universal screeners and progress monitoring tools to support mathematics learners at all stages.

The numeracy screener is a test of children’s ability to judge which of two number is larger. Numbers are presented symbolically (i.e. Arabic numerals) and non-symbolically (i.e. Dot arrays). Children are given a time limit (variable depending on age) to complete as many items as they can.

After answering a brief set of questions about yourself, you will complete the Panamath test. On each trial of the test, a brief flash of yellow and blue dots will appear, and you will respond whether you think there are more yellow dots or blue dots. At the end, you will see an output of your results and how you stack up compared with others who have taken the test.

Acadience Math was designed with efficiency and dependability in mind. You can now track mathematics skills for students in grades K–6 as accurately and easily as you track reading skills.

Renaissance Star Math® serves multiple purposes including screening, progress monitoring, instructional planning, forecasting proficiency, standards mastery, and measuring growth. It is a highly reliable, valid, and efficient standards-based, computer-adaptive assessment designed to measure student performance in key math skills, providing valuable information regarding the acquisition of math ability along the continuum of math expectations. A Star Math assessment can be completed in about 20 minutes.

The easyCBM system was developed by educational researchers at the University of Oregon in close collaboration with school district partners across the United States. It is designed to give teachers insight into which of their students may need additional instructional supports as well as to provide a means by which they can measure the effectiveness of their teaching. System reports provide information that supports evidence-based decision making.

This math assessment tool is for kindergarten and used to screen for future mathematics disabilities by testing conceptual mathematical outcomes. Assessing a student’s computation fluency in the fall of kindergarten helps to forecast the student’s risk level for future mathematics disabilities at the end of first grade.

i-Ready Diagnostic prepares and equips teachers by delivering actionable data that addresses the first part of the learning process—knowing exactly where each student is. i-Ready Diagnostic provides teachers with a complete picture of student performance relating to their grade level and national norms. It also includes Lexile® and Quantile® information for insights into reading and mathematics performance.

i-Ready Standards Mastery is a digital assessment for Grades 2–8 that gives educators immediate insight into student understanding, progress, and needs in Reading and Mathematics. After using i-Ready Diagnostic for an overall picture of student performance, educators can use two prebuilt i-Ready Standards Mastery assessment forms—each known as a “Mastery Check”—to evaluate students’ performance on key academic standards.

The Diagnostic Strand Analysis makes differentiation a breeze, grouping students with similar levels and showing you the most common skill recommendations for each group

These assessments are to be used as a form of progress monitoring for 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade math students. A SC graph is used in order to help students monitor their progress. Students can see how fast and how much they improve on each SC. The goal listed on the top of the graph is for the student to beat their highest score each time she/he takes a SC. Furthermore, the SC graph includes a chart that groups the 20 problem types into the subsets of skill types listed above. This chart allows students to visualize and assess their progress on each skill group for each SC. Students are given seven minutes to complete as many problems as they can. Administrators should read the bolded portion of the script to the students and follow directives that are italicized. For all grade levels, SC 1 is given as a pretest before content is taught to the children and SC 8 is given as a post-test after teaching on the content has been completed. ASPM was developed by researchers at Iowa State University and the University of Missouri. The purpose of ASPM is to develop a series of algebra screening and progress monitoring measures intended to enable teachers of students with disabilities to better monitor students’ learning in algebra. The research team will develop and pilot test an online progress monitoring assessment system that monitors progress in algebra, primarily for students with learning disabilities.

Grades 1-6

The Monitoring Basic Skills Progress (MBSP) Blackline Masters are a researched-based standardized set of measurement and evaluation procedures. They provide a method to focus intensively on the math progress of individual students who have identified learning problems and to evaluate formatively and improve those students' programs.
