Dear AES Families,
As we come to the end of another remarkable school year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we've shared together. This year has been filled with countless moments of growth, learning, and joy. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to witness the progress of each and every one of our students.
Our school community has shown resilience, creativity, and unwavering support throughout the challenges we've faced. Whether it was adapting to new learning environments, celebrating achievements big and small, or simply coming together to lift each other up, your partnership and dedication has made all the difference.
To our students: You have been AMAZING examples of what it means to be brave learners and caring friends. Your curiosity and enthusiasm light up our classrooms every day, and we are incredibly proud of all you have accomplished this year. You have become fantastic readers, writers, mathematicians, thinkers, and problem solvers.
To our families: Thank you for trusting us with the education and well-being of your children. Your involvement, encouragement, and collaboration have been instrumental in creating an enriching environment where every student can thrive.
We wish you all a restful and relaxing summer break filled with excitement, adventure, and relaxation. May it be a time for making cherished memories with friends and family, while preparing for the excitement of next school year.
Thank you once again for being part of our Aumsville Elementary School family. Here's to a wonderful summer break!
Sincerely,
Zach Mintzer, Principal
Kelly Cromwell, Assistant Principal
Jodie Mitchell, Assistant Principal
Welcome to our Aumsville Team
Mr. Kidd - PE
My family and I are very excited to be a part of the Cascade community! My wife and I have recently moved to the Turner area and have three children; Karis (10), Krew (7), and Karoline (6). I grew up in South Salem and attended Oregon State University, Go Beavs! I have been a High School PE teacher and baseball coach for the past 12 years, and look forward to transitioning into the Elementary level. My passions are sports, being active outdoors, and spending time with my family. I am excited to be a part of some great schools and add to the already positive energy in the community.
Mrs. Surerus - 4th Grade
Hello Aumsville,
I'm so excited to be joining the 4th grade team in the fall. I visited last week and appreciate the warm welcome from those I met.
I'm finishing my eleventh year of teaching; however, I have worked with children for over fifteen years. My previous experience includes working as an IA and at Trillium Family Services. I have taught first, second, fourth, and sixth grade & worked in Special Education.
I grew up in Corvallis & moved to Portland when I was in elementary school. I graduated from OSU and then attended Pacific University for my Masters in Teaching. I completed an endorsement in Special Education and recently graduated from Lewis & Clark with a degree in Educational Administration. I was also just accepted into Lewis and Clark's doctoral program.
My husband and I moved to Salem two years ago for his job. Jeff and I enjoy spending time with our two labs, Rawls and Bouie. We enjoy camping, hiking & traveling, and I recently rekindled my love of reading. If you have any suggestions for great summer reads, let me know! We also often travel to New Orleans to visit family & enjoy great food.
I look forward to meeting you all and joining the Aumsville community.
Mrs. Fultz - 1st Grade
Hello Aumsville Community,
My name is Carrissa Fultz. I have been an educator for 10 years. I have a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from PSU. For 10 years I have been working as a first and fourth grade teacher with Salem-Keizer. I have lived in Aumsville now for 5 years with my family. We have 3 boys who will soon be attending Aumsville Elementary. I am excited to be working in my hometown as a member of the 1st grade team.
Mrs. McElroy - 2nd Grade
Hi! My name is Shauna McElroy and I am thrilled to be joining the Aumsville Elementary team as a 2nd grade teacher. I just completed my 17th year of teaching. Over the years I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade in Albany and Jefferson. My husband and I live in Albany and we have a son who is in 7th grade. I love to spend time with family and friends, reading, gardening, and visiting the Oregon Coast. I look forward to getting to know the staff, students, and families in the Aumsville community!
Our New Assistant Principal
After a thorough search with many excellent applicants, Katy Ranzoni has been chosen for the Assistant Principal position at Aumsville Elementary for next year. She joins Principal Zach Mintzer and Assistant Principal Jodie Mitchell.
Part of the Cascade family since 2008, Ms. Ranzoni is currently the Instructional Math Coach at Aumsville Elementary, and previously taught math at Cascade High School and Cascade Jr. High. She brings a strong track record of supporting and coaching teachers and will be an excellent addition to the administrative team.
“We are excited to have Ms. Ranzoni join the administrative team here at Cascade,” said Superintendent Darin Drill. “Her commitment to our students over the years has been outstanding.”
