LEAD After-School Update!
Remote Tutoring over Winter Break, New Class Sign-up
New Opportunities being Offered Now!
1) Students can sign up for remote tutoring over Winter Break. This is for Summit students who have come close to passing one or two of their classes but still need more work, or for ABLE students who want to continue progress in math.
2) Students who are not presently signed up for after-school can sign up for a new Winter Wilderness course that starts January 5th. This course will teach students how to survive in a winter environment, how to detect avalanche danger, how to perform a snow rescue, along with opportunities for cross country skiing and snowshoeing! This is only a 6 week course and there is limited space.
Remote Winter Break Tutoring Details
Schedule tutoring/work time: 2:00 - 5:00
What Summit students will be doing: Checking in with the remote teacher via Zoom, setting their goals for the day, working independently, receiving help from the teacher, and taking PFA's (if needed)
What ABLE students will be doing: Setting a goal for the day, working on math through ALEKS and/or Apex, reflecting on their goal, and checking in with the math teacher at least once.
What happens if a student does not follow through?
This is a voluntary program offered to help students succeed, but if a student signs up, we expect them to sign in and work on the scheduled days. If a student does not check in, set a goal, or work, the BHS staff will be calling home to inform the parent or guardian.
