Parent Lunches
Rees families are welcomed to come and have lunch with their 2nd graders every Wednesday, only two guest at a time are allowed per week. Please sign in to the front office when you arrive.

Students are welcomed to participate on dress-up days. Students may also wear their regular uniform.

These dress up days are optional. Students are welcomed to wear their collared shirts with khaki or navy pants on a daily biases.

- Determine the value of a collection of coins up to one dollar
- Use the cent symbol, dollar sign, and the decimal point to name the value of a collection of coins

Science
Chapter 6: Weather and the Sky (Science AIA- January 9)
Big Idea: Weather data can be measured and graphed and severe weather varies by region. The Sun provides light and heat and objects in the sky can be studied with special tools.
Weather Information (01/13-01/24)
- Students will measure, record and graph weather information, including temperature and precipitation.
Severe Weather (01/27-01/31)
- Students will investigate different types of severe weather events such as a hurricane, tornado or flood and explain that some events are more likely than others in a given region.
Social Studies
Unit 3: The World Around Us
Students will learn how to Identify physical features of Earth, such as landforms and bodies of water.
Students will learn to describe how the location of landforms and bodies of water are shown on physical maps.
Weather and Climate
Students will learn how weather and climate affect where and how people, plants, and animals live.
Students will learn to recognize that areas can be divided into regions with unifying characteristics, such as climate and environment.
Students will learn how to describe weather conditions and understand the effects of sudden weather changes.
Our Environment
Students learn to Identify, and compare and contrast the characteristics of urban, suburban, and rural areas.
Students will learn to recognize how geographic characteristics such as weather, climate, and location can influence people’s decisions about how and where to live.
Where People Choose to Live
Students will how the availability of natural resources affect where people live and the activities they can do.
Students will learn how weather and seasonal patterns affect where people choose to live.They will also learn how natural hazards affect where people live.
Students will learn to identify different kinds of communities, including urban, rural, and suburban, and how their characteristics affect the activities people do.
