Week of 1/20/2025
A Message From Mr. Johnson:
Hello Sandhill Families,
We want to take a moment to thank you all for your patience and understanding as our school responded to a medical emergency on Thursday afternoon. While these situations can be scary, we are incredibly grateful for our well-trained and skilled staff members and first responders, whose quick actions ensured student safety while also respecting privacy and dignity.
As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’d like to reflect on one of his powerful messages:
“We must remember that intelligence is not enough,” King advised. “Intelligence plus character — that is the goal of true education.”
This quote speaks to our mission at Sandhill—to help our students grow both academically and as kind, respectful members of our community.
A few important reminders:
- No School on Monday (1/20) in observance of MLK Jr. Day
- Early Dismissal on Friday (1/24) at 11:00 AM
Inclement Weather Reminder:
- Any decision regarding school closures or delays will be communicated by 6:00 a.m.
- Depending on conditions, we may either close schools or implement a 2-hour delay (e.g., a 7:45 a.m. start will shift to 9:45 a.m.).
- More details can be found on the Inclement Weather Webpage.
Thank you for your continued support, and have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Bob / Mr. Johnson

Sportsmanship Awards
We are excited to introduce the Sandhill Sportsmanship Student of the Month Award! Each month, 2 students per grade level will be recognized for showing positive sportsmanship in both PE and recess. This is something that is a focus in each and every PE class as our students learn the importance of showing respect and kindness to their teammates and opponents in various forms of competition! Congratulations to our first Sportsmanship Students of the Month at Sandhill!
We are so proud of these students!
-Mrs. Dozois and Mr. Gueths
Battle of the Books
Calling all 4th and 5th Graders! We will be taking part in the Statewide Battle of the Books this year! Battle of the Books is designed to promote a love of reading among our students. It encourages students (groups of 3-4) to read a variety of books and remember information about the plots, characters, and settings of the books. Every question asked in a battle is answered by the title and author of the book. It is a fun, academic-based online reading competition that has been very successful in school districts throughout the state in encouraging students to read!

Kids Club - January 24 - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Sandhill staff is excited to run Kids Club again this year! Kids Club is a program that gives all students a chance to experience different extracurricular activities that they may not have a chance to experience otherwise. This is meant to be a fun experience for both staff and students.
We are holding our first Kids Club from 9:30-10:30 on Friday, January 24th. In order to do this, we are in need of a handful of volunteers to support teachers with their clubs. We are planning for each club to have approximately 20 students per course/activity.
Sign up to help with Kids Club on Jan 24!
VOLUNTEER FOR LUNCH DUTY!
