Hello March
Hello Families! We’ve had an exciting and productive month at Beadle Lake. We learned about a lot of new people during African American History Month. I’m so proud of our students' hard work, kindness, and enthusiasm for learning.
As we move into March, many exciting events and opportunities are ahead. Please keep an eye on your emails and our school calendar for important dates, including our Read-a-Thon, March is Reading Month calendar, dress-up days, Let It Grow Performance and Art Gallery, and Read-and-Create Around Beadle Lake. We love seeing our families engaged, whether it’s through volunteering, attending school events, or simply supporting learning at home.
A huge thank you to our dedicated teachers and staff for their commitment to creating a positive and enriching environment for our students. And, of course, I appreciate our amazing families for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Hope to see you in March.
Book Review with Mrs. Daniels 📚
The Sour Grape by Jory John and Pete Oswald is a humorous and meaningful children's book about the power of forgiveness and positivity.
The story follows Sour Grape, a character who used to be sweet but turned sour after holding onto grudges for too long. Sour Grape believes that once someone wrongs them, they should never be forgiven. However, through a series of events and reflections, Sour Grape realizes that grudges only make life more bitter and lonely. By learning to let go of past grievances and embrace forgiveness, Sour Grape discovers the joy of friendship and kindness.

March is Reading Month
March is just around the corner! We celebrate reading every day at BLE, however, next month we will do some special things to continue to build our reading community. We want to continue to motivate and engage our readers every day. We will be doing our READ A THON again starting March 3rd. It will run until March 17th. Look for more information to come home about signing up. We rocked this in November and want to see if we can get more families and students to participate. We can earn incentives for our students, families, and staff. Also, look for a March is Reading Month Calendar to come home this week with special events around reading. We plan to have a reading night March 12th where we will READ & CREATE AROUND BLE! A flyer will be sent home soon! It will be from 6-7, families can choose to participate in many different stem activities focused around reading. Refreshments will be provided.
Lastly, we will have a whole school read aloud that every classroom will listen to. It is a chapter book called A Boy Called Bat. It is a funny, heartfelt, and irresistible young middle grade series starring an unforgettable young boy. For Bixby Alexander Tam (nicknamed Bat), life tends to be full of surprises—some of them good, some not so good. We will do weekly engaging activities around this awesome book. This includes giving out some free books for participants in weekly questions around the book.
Happy Reading!

Mindful March with Mrs. Ledbetter
Greetings BLE Families & Loved Ones!
This month our focus is "Mindful March" where we will model being intentionally aware: aware of our tone, body language, surroundings, 5 senses, etc. By taking the time to slow down, we can be in charge of our reactions to situations and take ownership of how we respond. Here at BLE we plan to continue modeling important tools for kiddos like pausing before responding, breathing strategies, and grounding activities to help us stay regulated.
Ask your kiddo about their favorite breathing technique (star breathing, box breathing, finger tracing, smelling the flower, blowing the cocoa) and/or practice a few on kids YouTube together! Another strategy that can be used anywhere to help re-focus or regulate is the 5 senses grounding game. Name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste (or the most recent thing you've tasted). This is a great way to distract the brain by being intentionally mindful of our senses!
Beadle Lake Elementary Behavior Update ...
January building referrals were lower than December by 15 referrals, and we are SO proud of the kiddos for working hard to LEAD, even when things aren't going their way. We want to celebrate 1st grade who only had 5 referrals for the month, 3rd grade, who only had 1 referral for the month, and 4th grade who only had 7 referrals for the month!
