Principal's Message
Dear Families,
Last week was a whirlwind of activity and achievement for our students! On Monday, several Fairvalley and C-VLOA students visited their final college campus of the school year, an inspiring capstone to months of college and career exploration. By the end of the week, our Fairvalley students earned their CPR/AED certifications, equipping them with life-saving skills. We also held our final Class of 2025 meeting, where we highlighted important upcoming events for our seniors. Meanwhile, our ATP students enjoyed an exciting and enriching visit to the LA County Fair, packed with hands-on activities and memorable moments.
With so much to celebrate, we’re excited to begin our end-of-year festivities on Thursday, May 29th with the ATP Graduation and Talent Show, a heartfelt event that highlights the accomplishments and talents of our incredible students. This marks the beginning of several special celebrations as we wrap up the school year. We’re so proud of all our students and can’t wait to share these meaningful moments together. Let’s soak up the sunshine, because summer is just around the corner and it’s going to be grill-iant!
Sincerely,
Rebecca Handzel
Principal
Fun, Sun, and Fair Vibes with ATP!
Jam Session Takeover: Room 21 Rocks the House!
Room 21 rocked their way through an exciting trip to Guitar Center! Students explored a wide variety of instruments, from electric guitars and drum kits to keyboards and more. They had the chance to try out the gear, learn about different sounds, and enjoy a hands-on musical experience. It was a fun and engaging outing that hit all the right notes!
Exploring New Paths: Fairvalley and C-VLOA Visit Cypress College
Students from Fairvalley High School and C-VLOA had the unique opportunity to tour Cypress College’s Mortuary Science Program. This informative visit gave students an in-depth look at one of two accredited mortuary science programs in the state of California.
During the tour, students learned about the essential role funeral service professionals play in supporting families through end-of-life processes. The program’s faculty shared insights into various aspects of the industry, including embalming, funeral directing, and the laws and ethics governing funeral service.
A highlight of the visit was the introduction to restorative art, a specialized area within mortuary science that involves the reconstruction and cosmetic preparation of the deceased to restore a natural appearance. Students were able to see how professionals use waxes, cosmetics, and facial reconstruction techniques to help provide families with peaceful and respectful final viewings of their loved ones. The field trip offered a valuable and eye-opening glimpse into a profession that combines science, art, and empathy.
Prepared to Save Lives: Fairvalley Completes CPR/AED Training
Fairvalley High School is ending the year strong with a series of impactful, career-focused activities, highlighted by two opportunities this week for students from FHS and C-VLOA to earn CPR certification through in-person training sessions.
Thanks to funding from the Golden State Pathways Program (GSPP), students and staff received three hours of hands-on CPR training during the school day, provided by vendor Disaster Survival Skills. This initiative is part of a broader effort to boost college and career readiness on campus, with CPR certification serving as an industry-recognized credential that can lead directly to job opportunities in healthcare, education, and public service.
