The Siegrist Star
Week of September 9, 2024
Habit 6: Synergy in Action
At Siegrist Elementary, we’ve embraced the FranklinCovey 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, teaching our students and staff essential principles for success. Every day, we see these habits in action throughout the school.
Recently, Mrs. Kirchner’s class demonstrated Habit 6: Synergy. Synergy is about taking good ideas and making them better through collaboration. To put this into practice, the class participated in the Tallest Tower Challenge during their morning meeting. By working together and combining their creativity, they learned firsthand how powerful teamwork can be!
Got Character High Five Friday at Siegrist!
Today, we continued our beloved tradition of Got Character High Five Friday at Siegrist! This morning, we were excited to have students from Platte County High School join us to greet our students with warm smiles and high fives, helping to start their day on a positive note.
After the welcoming outside, the high school students joined a few of our classrooms during their morning meetings. They shared their thoughts on their chosen character traits and what those traits mean to them as students and young leaders.
A special thank you to Grace, Annabel, Avery, Taylor, Haley, Kennady, and Chloe for spreading positivity and sharing their experiences with our students. Your presence made a big difference, and we appreciate your support in helping us build a strong, character-driven school community!

Professional Learning Days (PLD)
On Monday, September 16, school will not be in session for our first Professional Learning Community (PLC) day of the 2024-25 school year.
PLC days are designed to establish sustained and uninterrupted time for teachers to work together and collaborate to improve student learning and achievement. This time allows educators to examine and respond to the four basic fundamental questions of a Professional Learning Community:
- What is it we want students to learn?
- How will we know when each student has achieved the learning?
- How will we respond when a student is not learning?
- How will we respond when we know a child has mastered the learning?
For more information on PCR-3's Professional Learning Community, visit the PLC page on the District's website.

What is Good Attendance?
At least 90% attendance is our goal for every student. This equals missing no more than two days of school per month (18 days per year).
We're here to support your family. Attendance is a partnership between families, students and the school. If something is standing in the way of your student being able to attend school every day, please reach out! We can help find solutions and connect you to resources.
**When a student is absent or needs to be called out of school early, please call the front office at (816) 858-5977. You can leave a message if it is outside of school hours**
