Greetings Bumpus Families,

We are getting into the swing of things now, and the building is buzzing with activity. We have a lot of events coming up. We have our 6th GRADE OPEN HOUSE on Tuesday Night 8/29 from 6-8pm, and we have our 7th & 8th GRADE OPEN HOUSE is 9/12 from 6-8pm. Come out and visit us on those nights!

Our biggest event of the year is the COLOR RUN on 9/22. We want 100% participation! There are more details in this ENEWS.

Each year, the district sends out a survey so we can get input from our parents. Please take time to take this quick survey. Your input is very important.

Please be aware that some dates and times may change-- so always check the RFBMS Important Dates and Events image posted at the top of our Enews. This same image runs daily on our school slideshow shown on all of our TV monitors. This will be updated as schedules become available.

Get your 23/24 Student Athletic Pass on GoFan. The pass gives students in the Hoover High School feeder pattern (Bumpus Middle, Simmons Middle, Hoover High) access to all regular season home games (excludes playoffs and tournaments). We recommend getting the digital pass through the GoFan app installed and logged in on your student's phone, as plastic card replacements are $10 each. Hoover City School nurses are tracking Covid positive and Flu positive cases by total number only. You may report your Covid positive or Flu positive status to the school nurse. The school nurses are not calculating isolation/quarantine dates for students/employees. If a student tests positive for Covid or Flu , parents should follow the recommendations of their health care provider for return to school dates and masking recommendations.

School Fees for the 2023-24 School Year will post on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Please plan to pay your school fees at that time. Thank you.

Please note recent changes that have been made regarding Chromebooks:

• If your student has a Chromebook with a clear case issued by HCS, please do not take the case off as it voids the warranty. 6th graders will be receiving new Chromebooks with clear cases within the first few weeks of school. Please do not take the cases off.

• A revised HCS Chromebook Protection Plan (pages 8-9) will be available to purchase during the month of September with school fees. The second repair is no longer covered by the plan, but it will be determined by an HCS staff or designee. Additionally, damage that is deemed intentional is not covered by the plan, and the full amount of repair/replacement will be due. Please see the image below for more details.

If you have a Chromebook in need of repair, please bring it to the first-floor office to Mrs. Stacey.

Breakfast cost is $2.00 and lunch cost is $3.00.

If your lease has expired (or will expire) during the current school year, please ensure that you have provided a copy of your new lease and a current utility bill to Bumpus. Conversely, if you have moved during the current school year, please provide us with a copy of your new lease or deed and a current utility bill.

Your child's account will be put on hold if their residency information is not current.

Please contact Mrs. Stone, our school Registrar, if you are planning on moving anytime during the school year. There is a procedure we have to follow to withdraw your child. You will also need to fill out an "Intent to Withdraw" form on our website. The Registrar will contact you once she receives the "Intent to Withdraw" information. In addition to the "Intent to Withdraw", you will need to come into the school to withdraw, turn in your child's Chromebook, etc. Please call her at 205-439-2212 or email her cstone@hoover.k12.al.us.
