The Pritchett Post -- 12/6/24
Home of the Panthers!
Dear Pritchett Families,
We were delighted to have had an opportunity to meet with you and discuss the progress the children have been making. Your commitment to time and your willingness to partner with staff made the conference period a valuable experience. Thank you one and all!
The question of “what to do?” with an area in need of strengthening is always an important one. If a skill is not in place, practice is the most common remedy followed second by effort. Some students need to practice more than others. This is not a function of intelligence as much as that of learning style. Math fact practice is essential for mastery. Reading is the only way to become a good reader.
The success of all students is our goal. I know that the success of your child is your goal. Thank you again for continuing to play a critical role in your child's development.
We enjoyed highlighting November's Portrait of a Graduate trait, GRATITUDE. In December we are focusing on the traits of RESPECT. When a teacher sees a student demonstrating respect acts that child will be acknowledged by having his/her name and action shared during morning announcements. Afterward, the student will come to the office and will be given a silver bracelet. The silver bracelet is our way of congratulating children for modeling this important character trait.
Sincerely,
Dr. Moreland -- Principal
December 20 Winter Break Send-0ff
Pritchett's leadership team is excited to share a fun and festive event planned for Friday, December 20th as we gear up for winter break! On this special day, we will host a Winter Break Send-Off Celebration in the cafeteria for all grade levels.
Here’s what to expect:
- Each child will enjoy a packet of Skinny Pop Popcorn, purchased with funds generously provided by our wonderful PTO.
- Students will get to relax and watch a few episodes of the beloved show, Bluey—a favorite for kids and adults alike!
- To make the day extra cozy, we are encouraging all students and staff to wear their favorite pajamas to school.
Please note: an ingredient list for the Skinny Pop Popcorn is attached below. We encourage you to review it and notify your child’s teacher if there are any allergy or dietary concerns we should be aware of. Your child’s safety and well-being are always our top priority.
Thank you for your continued support in making our school a wonderful place for learning, growth, and celebration. We can’t wait to see everyone in their pajamas, ready to enjoy a day of laughter, popcorn, and Bluey!
Pritchett's After School Program
Registration is open for the ASP Winter Session! But hurry, registration closes on Saturday, December 7th. Find out about exciting classes such as Little Veterinarians, STEAM Club, Karate, and Schoolyard Games by reviewing the class descriptions and use this link to register. If you have any questions you can contact our program director, Julie Coon, at jcoon@d102.org.
Winter is Coming
The weather has become noticeably colder since returning from Thanksgiving Break. As a reminder, we want the children outside for recess as much as possible. As long as the windchill is above 10 degrees Fahrenheit, students will be outside. Before we know it snow will be here! If your child would like to play in the snow, snow pants and boots will be needed. Please plan ahead.
Perfumes, Colognes, and Body Sprays
We have recently observed an increase in the use of perfumes, colognes, and body sprays among students, which has led to a rise in discomfort and possible allergic symptoms among some members of our school community.
To ensure a comfortable and inclusive environment for all students and staff, we kindly request that your student does not come to school wearing perfume, cologne, or strong body sprays. We understand preparing for school each morning is unique to each individual, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a welcoming and healthy atmosphere for everyone.
Thank you for your understanding and support.
