K - 8 Ninja News
January 2025
Notes from the desk of Mrs. Senior
Happy New Year Ninja Families!
Our eSchool team would like to start the new year by sharing our appreciation and thanks to our learning guides for their unwavering support of students and our staff during the 2024 school year. We are looking forward to continuing our strong partnership with you all for 2025. It is going to be the BEST year yet for the Ninja Nation!
Over the next few weeks we will be wrapping up FAST testing for progress monitoring window 2. This is a mandatory test per the state of Florida Department of Education, so it is important for attendance to test sessions be prioritized. Elementary students will be tested on January 14th, during their Live Lesson day. All students are expected to be in attendance. Middle School students who did not complete their FAST math and/or ELA tests in December are expected to attend a make-up session. Middle School teachers will be posting information on when and where those test sessions will take place via their announcement pages. We appreciate everyone's attention to this assessment expectation.
Good news! Pasco eSchool will be offering a K-8 Yearbook this year at the reduced price of $15.00. Photographers will be coming on campus for make-up picture day on Friday, January 24th. This date falls on the Middle School Ninja Cafe, so all middle school students who are in attendance that day will be photographed. We will be sharing more information about how to order your yearbook over the next few weeks.

Beanstack Reading Incentive
We are calling on all ninjas and learning guides and teachers to add reading minutes to our BeanStack App found on the MyPasco Connect dashboard. Our school was one of the top schools for reading minutes throughout most of last year and we would like to continue this trend for the 2024-2025 school year.

Updated Volunteer Information
New Volunteer Information
The 2024-2025 Volunteer Application will be available on July 1, 2024. Get ready to volunteer and attend events with your Ninja.
Starting August 1, 2024, all volunteers must complete a Level 2 background screening. Each volunteer will be responsible for the cost associated with the background screening. The cost is $41.25 and would only be required every 5 years. The District will pay a yearly maintenance fee for each approved volunteer. To keep their prints current, the volunteer must complete the Raptor application yearly. If the volunteer does not reapply by the deadline provided, they will be responsible for the cost associated with a new background screening.
The current/past practice includes:
· A background check through Florida's Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS) at the time of annual application. This check does not review any offenses that may have occurred outside the state of Florida.
· Our current background screening review is conducted once per year. Should a volunteer commit a new offense in the state of Florida, the District would be unaware until the volunteer applies for the next school year.
· Schools are required to enter all volunteers in Raptor daily. Raptor will check the National Sex Offenders Registry.
The new practice of completing Level 2 background screenings for all volunteers:
· The initial background screening is the same screening used for employees. This screening will review any offenses committed within the US.
· After the initial background screening, the District will pay a yearly monitoring fee for each volunteer’s fingerprints. Should the volunteer be arrested, the District will receive notifications, similar to our current practice for employees.
Thank you in advance for your support as we continue to implement procedures to keep our students safe while on our campuses. For more information and answers to some questions, please visit: https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/hreq/page/volunteer
