K - 8 Ninja News
November 2024
Notes from the desk of Mrs. Senior
Happy November Ninja Families!
This semester is absolutely flying by. All students should be over 60% complete in their coursework and if they are in need of catch up, the fall break is a great time for students to re-work assignments or catch up on coursework. Teachers will not be available for calls or meetings during that week (November 25 - 29), but it is a great opportunity to close any gaps.
As we approach the end of the semester, teacher DBA schedules become very full due to so many students completing coursework at the same time. Please make sure DBA meetings are scheduled early and that students keep those meetings.
Our Pasco eSchool team is so grateful to serve all of our ninja families. We want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

In light of this, we are coming together to provide assistance. Our Socktober and Thanksgiving Food Drive has transitioned into the Hurricane Helene Drive.
All items can be dropped off/delivered at the front desk of Pasco eSchool Headquarters. If mailing, please address items to Attn: Pasco eSchool Social Worker, Maria Cuevas. If you want to donate funds, please contact Mrs. Cuevas for further instructions.

Beanstack Reading Incentive
We are calling on all ninjas and learning guides and teachers to add reading minutes to our BeanStack App found on the MyPasco Connect dashboard. Our school was one of the top schools for reading minutes throughout most of last year and we would like to continue this trend for the 2024-2025 school year.

Updated Volunteer Information
New Volunteer Information
The 2024-2025 Volunteer Application will be available on July 1, 2024. Get ready to volunteer and attend events with your Ninja.
Starting August 1, 2024, all volunteers must complete a Level 2 background screening. Each volunteer will be responsible for the cost associated with the background screening. The cost is $41.25 and would only be required every 5 years. The District will pay a yearly maintenance fee for each approved volunteer. To keep their prints current, the volunteer must complete the Raptor application yearly. If the volunteer does not reapply by the deadline provided, they will be responsible for the cost associated with a new background screening.
The current/past practice includes:
· A background check through Florida's Comprehensive Case Information System (CCIS) at the time of annual application. This check does not review any offenses that may have occurred outside the state of Florida.
· Our current background screening review is conducted once per year. Should a volunteer commit a new offense in the state of Florida, the District would be unaware until the volunteer applies for the next school year.
· Schools are required to enter all volunteers in Raptor daily. Raptor will check the National Sex Offenders Registry.
The new practice of completing Level 2 background screenings for all volunteers:
· The initial background screening is the same screening used for employees. This screening will review any offenses committed within the US.
· After the initial background screening, the District will pay a yearly monitoring fee for each volunteer’s fingerprints. Should the volunteer be arrested, the District will receive notifications, similar to our current practice for employees.
Thank you in advance for your support as we continue to implement procedures to keep our students safe while on our campuses. For more information and answers to some questions, please visit: https://www.pasco.k12.fl.us/hreq/page/volunteer
