Welcome Back Bobcats
I hope all of you have had a great summer. It flew by for myself, but it is good to be back. Our new group of kindergarteners are fabulous. We are going to have lots of fun. It was also good to see all of the familiar faces and renew friendships.
A couple of important announcements. First, we are a Community Eligibility Provision(CEP) campus. What this means is that breakfast and lunches served at Braun Station are free to all students. In order to continue to be a CEP campus our parents need to complete a short 3 question form at the start of the school year. Responses are due by October 21, 2024. Please us this link to complete the questionnaire: https://ecep.nisd.net/
This is a tremendous benefit for our community. Let's keep it going.
Second, on September 18, Braun Station will be training students what to do if we have to conduct a crisis lockdown. In grades 3rd-5th, students will view the Northside Run, Hide, Fight video. Parents can preview the video using the following link: https://youtu.be/QA28WnlhUCk
For kinder, first, and second grade students, Ms. Putrus will be providing the training during her guidance lessons. It is important for all parents, students, and staff to know what to do incase of a lockdown.
We are all excited for the new school year. If you are interested please volunteer. It is always good to have parents helping us on campus.

Welcome back BOBCATS!! Looking forward to a great school year! Guidance will begin the week of September 9th. Our first lesson will be a "howdy" lesson so the students and I can catch up and I can get to know any new faces. Students will also learn more about my role as the counselor and how to connect with me if they should need support. The remainder of September we will be focusing our guidance lessons around safety, responsible behavior, and healthy relationships for students.

A new year is a new opportunity to support your child's learning at home. ST Math is an excellent way to do just that! It provides students with equitable access to learning through challenging puzzles, non-routine problem solving, and facilitates problem solving. Each puzzle teaches your child and builds conceptual understanding.
Your child will track their individual puzzle completion outside my office and their class puzzle completion outside the cafeteria. They both have opportunities to earn rewards so get busy supporting them at home!
To access your student's portal simply go to this link or scan the QR code below. If your Bobcat doesn't know their s# or password, please ask their teacher so you can help them learn it at home.

Welcome back Bobcats! I am so happy to see everyone back this year! I am split again this year with Oak Hills Terrace, but am ready to broaden our horizons and do some different things that we have not done before.
On Tuesday, September 10th, our First and Second Graders will be doing a mini performance for the PTA General Meeting. We hope all of you will come out to see what they have accomplished in such a short amount of time! All performers are to meet in my room at 6:00 p.m.
Our Bobcat Patrols are off and rolling! We have now started our two weeks on and two weeks off schedule. Parents, please check your Remind messages for these schedules and other info. If you have a 5th grader that is still interested in Patrols, please have them see me!
Bobcat Choir will be starting up later this month for any 3rd, 4th, or 5th grader that loves to have fun, sing, and most importantly, have more fun!
Lastly, any 5th grader that wants to learn how to play either a violin, viola, cello, or bass can still sign up for our after school strings program. Classes are taught by Ms. John, Stevenson Middle School Orchestra Director on Mondays and Wednesdays. There is no conflict between this amazing program and patrols, so any 5th grader can join!
I am looking forward to another great year with your awesome children!

Welcome back Bobcats!! I am Coach Perez, your student's P.E. teacher for this year. I am very excited to be here. This will be the start of my 23rd year teaching P.E., 18 of those years here at Braun Station.
These nine weeks will be full of fun games and activities getting to know routines and procedures. K-2nd grades will be learning ball skills of catching and throwing, motor skills like skipping, hopping and galloping.
3rd-5th grades will be learning fundamentals on volleyball and football. They will also be tested on 7 fitness assessments for data to comply with the TEA PFAI mandate for the beginning of the year. These tests will entail height, weight, sit and reach (flexibility), pacer test (cardio) push ups, curl ups and trunk lift (muscle endurance and strengthening). The students will then practice during P.E. to try and improve their own scores throughout the year. In April of 2025, students will be tested a 2nd time so they can compare the two scores and see how much was improved and/or what areas need improvement. These tests are NOT for a grade in PE. This is for us to see each students' fitness level. We don't compare or share scores with others. In May, 3rd -5th grade students will be sent home with a fitness report ( NISD F.I.T.) showing their results to their parents/guardians.
Please remind your student to wear tennis shoes on P.E. days and appropriate clothing to move, jump and exercise.
My conference time is from 7:45 am-8:30 everyday.
Dates for your calendar:
10/9 21 Day Healthy Snack Challenge (more details to come)
10/25 Bike Rodeo
Have a great month of September!!
Your P.E. teacher,
Coach Perez
