Fall break starts next week. I hope you have some plans - even if it is just a drive to the mountains to see the fall colors. This year the colors have been spectacular!
Below you will learn about another one of the important pieces of our personalized learning model - computer aided instruction (CAIS).
FAMILY SURVEY TIME - Please check your emails for links to the grade level family surveys. These surveys are essential for us to know how we are doing in key areas so we know how we need to improve. We review all of the data, reflect on the information and either celebrate the successes or make decisions on how to make improvements. The data is shared across grades so if one grade has super high scores in a specific area other teachers can observe and ask questions to determine what that grade may be doing differently. For this reason, it is SUPER important that everyone complete the survey. The more information we have the better informed we are with how the grade levels and the school is performing. The data is also shared with our Board of Directors and the overall data is shared in a subsequent newsletter.
AT HOME VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
We have TONS of packages of construction paper that need to be opened and sorted into like colors. This would be a FABULOUS at home volunteer opportunity for the WHOLE family. You can take the time you spend and multiply it by the number of helpers and in no time you would reach or exceed the suggested 30 volunteer hours per family. Check in with the front office if you would like to help.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCES
Students with excessive unexcused absences are sent an email explaining the law regarding unexcused absences. All absences MUST be excused within 24 hours. You can find more information regarding HOW to excuse an absence at the bottom of this newsletter. If you receive an email, please respond immediately and let the office know WHY the child was absent. For the next couple of weeks we will retroactively EXCUSE absences. However, after the middle of October we will no longer retroactive the absences - they must be excused within 24 hours of the child's absence.

Computer Aided Instruction - CAIS
Imagine Learning is an adaptive instructional program that assesses the student, identifies learning gaps, and delivers instruction by filling in the gaps and addressing the core concepts for their grade level. Students in grade 3+ also have access to a live teacher during Imagine Learning math to help them with concepts in which they may be struggling. Imagine Learning is a powerful piece of our personalized learning model.
Imagine Learning is a program highly recommended by the Utah State Board of Education and one of the few CAIS programs the Utah State Legislature allows us to use our funding to pay for as an educational supplement for literacy and math. The state funds part of the program through two different grants - Early Intervention Reading Software Program and the K-12 Math Personalized Learning Software Grant. The remaining funds are paid by Bridge.
By using grants we are required to meet certain levels of fidelity - number of lessons passed, usage each week, and lesson pass rate. This is monitored weekly by grade level and reported to teachers. Additionally, teachers monitor this per student to ensure the student is also meeting the required goals. By meeting the fidelity requirements the research shows a student will gain one year's academic growth.
Imagine Learning is not just an instructional tool for students, it is a cornerstone of teacher's data analysis. Imagine Learning is able to do the "heavy lifting" and gather essential data for teachers to analyze to determine where students are succeeding and where they need additional support. In Imagine Literacy teachers can listen to student's recordings of their reading and read their writing assignments and provide feedback. Teachers can alter a student's Imagine Learning lesson pathway to support instruction, create activities for small group instruction aligned with Imagine Learning data, and create activities for station time to further support the student's Imagine Learning activities or address any learning gaps identified.
Additionally, your student can always work on Imagine Learning at home and on breaks. You can access Imagine Learning from our school's website at:
https://www.bridgecharter.org/curriculum
Your student should know their login and password. If they do not know their login and password, please reach out to your child's teacher. The school's site code is on the website - it is: 4900202
Fall Shirt Order Now Open
PLEASE READ - Youth sizes are preceded by a "Y" and adult sizes are not. For example, a youth small is "YS" and an adult small is "S". We do NOT have shirts at the school to exchange when you order the wrong size.
Custom Ink does their best to have all the shirts in all the sizes; however, they have a ton of customers across the country so the availability fluctuates in real time.

EXPECTATIONS FOR BASE
Attending BASE is a privilege. Students who behave inappropriately and create an unsafe place for others will be removed from BASE and will remain in a chair in the front office until a parent or guardian picks them up. If there is a second behavioral infraction, the student will not be allowed to remain after school for BASE for the remainder of the week will be on “warning” status. A student who is on warning status and is removed from another BASE class for unsafe behavior will lose the privilege of attending after-school programs for the remainder of the month and must be picked up from school after 3:30 dismissal. With a fourth, unsafe, behavioral infraction, a student will lose the privilege of attending after-school programs for the remainder of the year.
Students MUST be picked up directly after BASE ends at 4:30 pm. Our BASE supervisor’s shift ends at 4:45 pm. Please be respectful of their time and arrive at school timely to pick up your students.

2023-2024 Calendar
Volunteers
- Cutting Watch Me Learn tickets (stop by the office).
- Pulling weeds in the rock areas and park strips (we have all the area in front of the school and up 4800 S along the school fence).
- Sorting construction paper into like colors (stop by the office).
- Using rakes and shovels to redistribute the gravel from the bottom of the retention area in front of the school to the top area to cover the black landscape screen.
- Parking lot duty before and after school (just check in at the office, put on a yellow vest and talk to Travis in the crosswalk for instructions).
Once your family has volunteered 30 hours they can stop by the front office and ask for a VOLUNTEER FROG. There is no formal tracking program - just track the hours yourself. Then, write your family's name on the frog and tape the frog on our volunteer pond in the front foyer.
If you want to volunteer but do not have the time, you can donate $90 to cover the 30 hours. If you choose to donate, complete the volunteer form. You can donate in the office or by using our DONATE icon on the home page of our website.
Volunteering or donating is OPTIONAL and is not required to be a student or a parent of a student at Bridge Elementary.

Bridge Elementary is committed to maintaining a school climate that is safe, welcoming, and free of harassment and discrimination. The School prohibits all forms of harassment, and it does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national origin, creed, religion, age, marital status, or disability.

Title I
Bridge Elementary receives our Title I funding based on the percentage of students that qualify for free or reduced lunch. For this reason we encourage ALL families to apply for Free/Reduced lunch through Aspire to ensure every single student receives the services needed, including access to free or reduced meals if appropriate.
Title I provides avenues for parent input and participation. We do this through our surveys and the link to the form on our website which allows parents to submit questions and suggestions.
You can find more information about Title I as well as a form to ask questions or provide suggestions regarding Title I, on our website at:
