Welcome back to what we are all hoping will be a return to some sense of normalcy. I hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy, and that you had the opportunity to rest, relax and rejuvenate over the summer. With the arrival of student-athletes on campus throughout the state rapidly approaching, an atmosphere of high energy, enthusiasm and optimism will be the prevailing mood. Just think how exciting it will be to see your fields, courts and stadiums filled with kids playing the sports they love!
I am thrilled to say that we have had a significant increase in membership and the board is already making plans for a year filled with exciting opportunities for camaraderie and professional development. The NIAAA has already opened registration for the national conference to take place in Denver this December. The agenda will be packed with outstanding workshops and a tremendous selection of LTI classes including two new offerings focusing on dealing with ethical decision making and partnering with parents to create a positive culture. We also have every reason to believe that our state conference in March will take place in person down the Cape and it will be better than ever!
Be on the lookout for the return of the dynamic duo, Keith Mangan and Matt Trahan, as they will be hosting the newly established MSSADA Podcast. They will be covering a wide array of current topics and featuring outstanding guest speakers. This will be a must see event! I also encourage you to check out our much improved website. You will be able to find important information regarding conference registration, professional development opportunities, and valuable resources.
Our partnership with the Fenway Management Group promises to provide outstanding opportunities for our membership. We are in the midst of developing a public service announcement on character that can be personalized to your school along with the potential of hosting events at Fenway Park and combining efforts in community service projects to provide valuable educational experiences.
I wish you the best of luck with the upcoming fall season.
Respectfully,
Francis Whitten III, CMAA

A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR PARTNERSHIPS WITH...
TUNNEL TO TOWERS - NIAAA INITIATIVE
To all NEDC Members, NIAAA State Liaisons and State Presidents,
On behalf of the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association, we would like to inform you about the continuation of our 2021 Initiative the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Due to the COVID-19, many states were unable to host their 2020 state conferences therefore not having the opportunity to raise money for this worthy organization.
As a reminder, this organization helps benefit our military and first responders. They do this in memory of FDNY firefighter, Stephen Siller, who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. Please see the attached flyer.
We really appreciate how our membership responded last year and we hope we can expand upon those efforts. In addition to raising funds from your state membership we would like you to consider encouraging them to use this initiative as a community service project within their schools. Students can benefit a great deal by learning about our country and the events that happened on 9/11.
To donate to this year’s 2021 NIAAA Initiative simply follow these steps:
Please use a credit card (if your association does not have its own card please use your personal card and get reimbursement)
Go to https://bit.ly/2CQrrGc and click on Donate on the right side of the page.
Select or fill in your amount to donate and then click on Continue
Fill in your information on the payment page and click on Donate. Note – fees
If your association doesn’t have a credit card, you may also send your state check to the NIAAA with Tunnel 2 Towers in the memo section and the NIAAA will make your donation for you.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either one of us:
