Winter Preparation!
As the weather gets colder, please be sure your child is always prepared with the necessary outdoor weather gear for school. As you can imagine, an accumulation of winter gear appears in classrooms. Please help us keep organized with all this gear by writing your last name on the tags. This helps us ensure that missing gloves, coats, mittens, hats, and (eventually) snow pants and boots make it home to the right owner. A reusable bag to store all of your child’s winter gear is also helpful.
It's also the season for dry hands and chapped lips. Please consider packing a small bottle of fragrance-free lotion and a small tube of chapstick for your child to keep in his/her backpack. Thank you!

Help for the Holidays
The holidays are quickly approaching, and we have families in our OMS community that can use a little extra help during the holiday season. Please contact me if your family is one that would benefit from this assistance. Gifts or gift cards will be collected to distribute to families who respond by November 22. Reach out to the social worker by confidential voicemail or email listed below.

Multicultural Night ~ November 16th 6:30 - 8:00
Join us on November 16th for OMS multicultural night. The first 300 students will receive their very own passports to travel the world. Enjoy touring classrooms to learn about different cultures. At each stop, students will receive a passport stamp for learning about a new culture through books, activities, coloring pages, and more. A huge thank you to the OMS PTA Every Owl Counts Committee for sponsoring the purchase of the student passports!
In addition, our 3rd-grade classes will be singing a few songs from around the world in the commons from 6:45 - 7:00 and from 7:00 - 7:15.
*Families are encouraged to stay together to experience the evening.
LMC Book Fundraiser
Everyone is invited to the LMC during Multicultural Night on Thursday, November 16. We will have all of our new books on display as part of our “sponsor a book” fundraiser for the library. We use the results of the fundraiser to purchase more new books for the OMS library. If you find a book you’d like to sponsor, please bring it to the checkout desk and make a $10 donation with cash or check. The library staff will place a personalized bookplate inside the book indicating the sponsor name. Your child will be the first one to check it out on the following school day. Also, for every family who sponsors a book, each child in the family is invited to enter a raffle to win a copy of a book autographed by the author. We have three books to give away!
