Leader in Me: Habit 8
Our next Leader in Me focus is Habit 8: Find Your Voice, and Inspire Others to Find Theirs. Our next awards assembly on May 23rd we will recognize students who exhibit this habit of contribution.
People who have found their voice focus on expanding their circle of influence, being trustworthy, building trust, blending the voices of others, and creating a common vision. They align goals and systems and empower others.
Great achievers express their voice by developing their vision, discipline, passion, and conscience. They recognize, respect and create meaningful opportunities for others to express their voices.
Kid Language
I have found something that I am good at and really like doing. I am proud but do not boast. Instead, I use my expertise to help and inspire others.
Ways to Practice Find Your Voice
- Try something new like painting, horseback riding, or baseball. Then ask yourself: Did I enjoy myself? Was it easy or hard? Do I want to learn more?
- Go to the library or search the internet to find reading material on new things. What kinds of things spark your interest? What do you want to continue learning about?
- Plan some time to help someone in need. How did the experience make you feel?

Cotillion - 6th and 7th Grade
Attention Jerabek Parents
Once again, Mr. Benjamin's Cotillion is being offered to 6th and 7th graders. This is a 70 year tradition (est. 1954) of children attending this class throughout San Diego County. Three generations of San Diego families have participated in this program.
The classes will start in October and end in March. The program is taught by Mr. Peter Benjamin.
It involves a series of 1 hour classes, held on a once or twice a month (Tuesday) schedule for 6 months. 7:30-8:30 pm. These classes are held in a number of different areas. The one families from your area attend is in Scripps Ranch. Marshall Middle School. Classes begin in October 2024.
The cost for the 6 month program is $290. A one time payment or a 2 payment option.
Each class, the children are involved in topics pertaining to manners, thoughtfulness and self-confidence. They also dance, in order for them to become more comfortable and self-assured in talking with others.
Topics include: First impressions, eye contact, firm handshakes. How to be a proper guest, host or hostess. Correct introductions . How to create and hold a conversation . Table manners and proper place setting . Concerns regarding cell phones and social media. Character development is discussed. Along with many others. Everyday skills to ensure a successful future.
This program stresses the development of kindness and graciousness; qualities of which are becoming increasingly void. In a world of rapidly evolving electronic communication, cell phones and text messaging, we often forget that fundamental skills of human interaction remain basic and unchanged. At every class, we review and reinforce these highly reliable skills.
If any parents would like to receive an invitation, please fill out the form located at www.mrbenjamins.com Invitations will be emailed out in September of 2024. For more information about the program, feel free to visit the web site, www.mrbenjamins.com or contact Mr. Benjamin directly at (619) 222-3769.
