IMPORTANT: iPAD COLLECTION - WEEK OF MAY 19
Dear Caregivers,
We are now less than three weeks away from the end of the school year so we wanted to take a moment to update you on the iPad collection process:
We will be collecting iPads the week of May 19 (teachers have the schedule of the day your student's iPad will be collected).
Please ensure your student brings their iPad fully charged to school this week.
You do NOT need to turn in the brick and cord as they will keep them for next year.
We will remotely remove ALL passcodes on Monday, May 19 and students should NOT add a passcode to their iPad after that date (this helps us expedite the collection process).
We will be updating all iPads before the start of the school year next year so if you have any photos or videos you'd like to keep, please ensure you have saved them to One Drive. Here's how.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact kraves@hse.k12.in.us.

🩺 A Message from HSE’s Director of Health Services
The Indiana Department of Health (IDOH) has confirmed six cases of measles in the state — all connected to one outbreak in Allen County. There are no reported cases in our county, and the overall risk to the public in Indiana remains low.
Still, we want our families to be informed. Measles is a highly contagious illness that spreads through coughs, sneezes, or even talking. The virus can linger in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours.
What to Watch For:
Symptoms usually appear 7 to 14 days after exposure and include:
High fever
Cough
Runny nose
Red eyes
A rash that typically starts at the hairline and spreads downward
School Guidelines:
Per state health regulations, students or staff exposed to measles without proof of immunity must stay home until they can provide documentation of immunity.
Those with medical or religious exemptions must stay home for 21 days following the last known case in the school.
How to Protect Your Family:
The best protection against measles is the MMR (Measles, Mumps, and Rubella) vaccine:
Given at 12–15 months and again at 4–6 years
Anyone born after 1957 without vaccination records may also be eligible
Talk with your child’s healthcare provider or contact the Fishers Health Department at (317) 567-5045 to learn more.

Counselor's Corner
Hi HPE families,
Did you know that May is Mental Health Awareness Month?
Mental health for children is crucial for their overall well-being and development. Mental health includes emotional, psychological, and social wellness. You play a vital role in nurturing your child's mental health by providing a supportive and loving environment, fostering positive relationships, and teaching effective coping skills.
It's important that we recognize signs of mental health challenges in children, such as changes in behavior, mood swings, or withdrawal, and to seek professional help when needed. Creating open communication channels at home where children feel comfortable expressing their feelings without fear of judgment is essential.
Additionally, promoting healthy habits such as regular exercise, sufficient sleep, and balanced nutrition contribute to overall mental well-being. By prioritizing mental health and providing appropriate support, parents can help their children thrive emotionally and reach their full potential.
Have a great weekend!

Please do not call the school after 12:00 pm to make a transportation change except in the case of extreme emergencies.
Our last date for lunch visitors is April 30.
Tuesday May 20th - Riverside Intermediate School

A member of the RSI student council will guide each group on the tour and answer any questions your incoming 5th grader may have about Riverside. There is much to be excited about at the River, so be sure to ask your student all about their visit when they come home!
