Please take this course: PSY 396C Preparation for Graduate Programs in the Field of Psychology (and related fields). It is offered fully online in 7wk1 in Spring 2023, and registration begins soon! This course is recommended for Juniors and above who are considering applying to graduate school, or are curious about the process.

Course Learning Outcomes:

• Learn about the different fields of post-undergraduate study within and related to Psychology.
• Understand the general graduate school application steps and program-specific admission procedures, requirements, and steps.
• Describe the 3 sections of the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) and ways to prepare for the exam.
• Demonstrate understanding of Personal Statement format, content, structure, grammar, and flow.
• Demonstrate understanding of Resume/CV format, structure, and style for graduate school.
• Understand degree-specific funding options and the necessary resources to apply for additional funds.
• Learn the different types of graduate school interview processes and gain tips and how to prepare for them.
• You will complete the course with a firm grasp of your chosen graduate school field and the requirements to get in.

FAFSA Filing Workshop

Filing Your 2023/2024 FAFSA: Yes, we know it’s only October, but next year’s FAFSA is already open and available for students to complete. The workshop will present an overview of the FAFSA and include an opportunity to meet 1:1 with a financial aid counselor for personalized assistance. Students and their supporters can attend this workshop in either English or Spanish.

Taking Care of That Past Due Balance: The stress of a past due balance impacts a student’s ability to be successful. This virtual workshop can help students determine options to pay down their past due balance, so they can focus on their studies

FREE, VIRTUAL Conference to learn more about I-O psychology. This virtual conference is designed to help racial and ethnic minority individuals, particularly undergraduate students, learn more about I-O psychology.

The DIP conference will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. ET Nov. 7 and 8:

• Day One will focus on the I-O PhD experience. Attendees will hear from distinguished speakers about what a career in I-O psychology is like, how to pursue a career in I-O psychology, and what a PhD program involves.
• Day Two will focus on the application process, including how to find programs that are a good fit, the application itself, interviewing, and preparing to start the program.
• Each of the six sessions will include time for students to ask questions.

Students are now welcome to enroll in a new undergraduate certificate offered through the Psychology Department. The certificate is intended to help students develop transferrable skills that are highly valued by employers and to make students more marketable upon graduation. One of the classes offered through the certificate program in Fall 2022's Second Seven Week Session is PSY 386: Caring for Aging Adults and Selfcare for the Caregiver. This class emphasizes self-care and stress management for professional and family caregivers and though the focus is on aging adults.

The Ph.D. program of Health Psychology and Clinical Science (HPCS) at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York seeks promising underrepresented students to apply for admission. The Buddy Walk was developed in 1995 to promote awareness and inclusion for people with Down syndrome and to raise money for research and education programs. The Buddy Walk Program has expanded from 17 walks the first year to more than 250 last year. Today, the Buddy Walk Program is supported nationally by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) and locally organized and hosted by SANDS.

The Tucson Buddy Walk is the primary fundraiser and awareness-building event for the Southern Arizona Network for Down Syndrome (SANDS). The Tucson Buddy Walk is an extended family picnic for the entire community that features exhibits, food, entertainment, a raffle and silent auction. Although the Tucson Buddy Walk is less than one mile, it is the largest walk of its kind in Southern Arizona and anyone can participate without special training.
