From the Principal

Dear FMS Families,

Time this year is slipping away very quickly as every day is very full of learning and excitement! We have many fun events planned through the end of the school year to celebrate the hard work and growth of our students. We are so proud of how much has been accomplished this year. Your children are leaving this school year with more skills, knowledge and maturity than they walked in with in August - this is worth celebrating!

I want to welcome our incoming third grade families to this message, as this edition of the Bobcat Bulletin is being sent to our new families as well. I am excited to welcome your children to FMS and can’t wait to get to know them as students and community members.

Enjoy the end of the school year and we will send some final updates for the school year during the week of June 10th. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have questions or concerns.

Move Up Experiences

On Monday, June 3rd, second graders will take a bus to FMS for their move-up day with third grade teachers in the afternoon. They will meet FMS staff in the cafeteria, and then each class will travel to a classroom to learn about third grade at FMS. Class placement information will be sent home at the end of the school year.

On Monday, June 10th, third, fourth and fifth grade students will have their move up experience in the afternoon. Each grade will meet with teachers at the next grade level and learn about their new grade. Fifth graders will travel to EMS, the last of a few trips to their new school this spring. Class placement information for current third and fourth graders will be mailed home at the end of the school year. Team placement information for current fifth graders will be mailed home during the week of 6/3.

Field Day

We are having our schoolwide field day on Wednesday, June 5th. We will start with a schoolwide walk, and then classes will travel to stations throughout the morning with their class to have lots of outdoor fun together. We will end the day with a staff relay. If you are interested in volunteering at this event, please reach out to the PTO, at PTO@ewsd.org.

Casella Calendar Winners!

We had TWO winners of the Casella Calendar contest for third graders from FMS this year. Owen from Mrs. Koller’s class earned an honorable mention. Leah from Mrs. Bacon’s class earned a grand prize. We surprised them both at our schoolwide meeting earlier this month. Congratulations to you both!

Clean Up Day

On Wednesday, May 15, our entire school participated in a schoolwide cleanup day. This event was planned by our 3rd grade student council. Students very enthusiastically engaged in community service both outside and inside the school building. This truly showed how we as a community take care of each other and our world!

Fifth Grade Celebration

Our fifth grade student council has helped to plan an end-of-year celebration on Thursday, June 13, from 6:30-7:30. There will be games, music and fun.

Progress Reports

On Friday, June 14th, progress reports will be viewable to families. You will get an email message on that day that explains how to access your child’s progress report. Please be sure to review all the thoughtful feedback our teachers provide about your child’s learning. If you would like a printed copy of your child’s progress report mailed to you, contact Emily Kim at ekim@ewsd.org.
