Message from Ms. Gengras in Art
Students in kindergarten just finished their starlight pumpkin project. Check out these beautiful masterpieces in our Hiawatha hallways.
First-grade art activists painted kindness rocks for our community. Each student carefully planned an image and words to share an important message. Then students use acrylic paint and paint markers to paint their rocks. They did a fabulous job.
Second-grade artists were the first to earn an art celebration for filling up their pom-pom containers! Each class had art choice time, which included painting, collating, drawing, or watching fun art YouTube videos!
Third-grade artists are beginning a printmaking project. After learning about Ruby Bridges and the changes that activists make, students sketched out three ideas for their prints. I saw themes about stopping animal cruelty, saving the environment, equality for all, and many more. Some students have already carved their styrofoam, and the next step is to start making a print edition!
