Blue Valley Northwest
Principal's Newsletter - October 18, 2024
Dear Husky Families,
Thank you for your continued support and engagement as we kick off 2nd quarter! It’s been a fantastic week, and finally feels like fall! We look forward to building on our strong start and continuing to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment for all our students.
Our teaching staff continues to reinforce the district personal electronic device policy in all of our classrooms. If you could help us out at home by encouraging your student to keep their cell phone put away during class time (from bell to bell), we would appreciate it!
Just a reminder that Parent/Teacher conferences are next week on Monday (virtual) and Wednesday (virtual or in person @ BVNW). More information is below.
Thank you for being a part of our Husky community and for your continued partnership and support.
Go Huskies!
Sincerely,
Leah Vomhof
BVNW Principal

Repeating Information (already shared):
Attendance
At BVNW, we prioritize student safety, and as part of this, we do not have an open lunch policy. If a student needs to leave campus, parent permission is required by contacting our attendance office. Students who leave school will always have to sign back in at the office. If a student signs back in and did not have permission to leave, their administrator will assign them a detention. We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for all students.
Student IDs
A reminder that students will need their ID to enter the building during school hours. Please note-all IDs are digital, meaning we will only be printing hard copies of IDs if you have extenuating circumstances. Make sure your Student ID has been downloaded to student phones.
Instructions to access your ID:
Click here to begin the process.
Follow the prompts to enter your name, student ID number, and create a password.
Save the URL for your ID in your phone or take a screenshot and save it to your phone.
Student-Operated Motorized Bikes and Scooters on BVNW Campus
To ensure a safe environment for everyone, students must turn off and walk their electric/motorized bikes or scooters once on district property. At dismissal, motors should not be engaged until off-campus. This includes sidewalks and parking lots.
Blue Valley Board Policy 3200 - Attendance
Families, just a reminder that according to board policy 3200, students can only be excused from school for the following reasons: personal illness, death in the family, verified health appointments, verified family emergency, obligatory religious observances of the student’s own faith, prearranged family vacations that have been approved by administration, school sponsored activities, college visits, or personal matters. Students are allowed 7 excused absences per class per year. If your student has additional absences, they will be marked as unexcused. While we understand that there are a number of reasons a student is absent from school, regular attendance is the key to a student’s academic success.
Graduation Update!
It has been announced that Commencement for the Class of 2025 will be held on May 18th at 1:00 PM. There is a change in venue this year. The ceremony will be held at Blue Valley Ant-DAC at 162nd Street and Antioch. If weather does not permit, the event will be moved inside to the gymnasium.
Student Pick Up
Please remember that school adjourns at 2:45. We ask that all students that are not involved with an athletic team, activity, club, tutoring, etc. be picked up by 3:15. Please use the circle drives for both drop off and pickup. Thank you!
Safe Schools Reporting
Blue Valley Schools is committed to promoting and fostering a safe environment in and around all our schools. We are continuously working to prevent, mitigate, respond to and recover from a wide range of situations. Please check out available ways to report safety concerns.
