Principal's Message
Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, September 19th at 7pm. Senior parents and students are invited to the Class of 2025 Information Night at 6pm in the auditorium before Back to School Night.
All parents will need to know the location of their child's Period 1 classroom as that is the room parents will report to at 7pm to begin the evening. Please ask your child where their Period 1 class is located or look at their schedule in the Genesis Parent Portal. Printed copies of your child's schedule will be provided to you in the Period 1 classroom. Please note that Communications High School has generously offered the use of their parking lot for the evening and Wall High School offers shuttle bus service from the following locations: Wall Intermediate School, Wall Municipal Complex and parking lot across from Camp Evans starting at 6:15 P.M. More detailed information can be found in the Back to School Night letter that was sent home to parents and guardians last week.
As you know we have transitioned to a new bell schedule for the 24-25 school year. The Daily Rotation Calendar and the 24-25 Bell Schedules can be found on the WHS website under the Our School tab. Students have adjusted quickly to the new schedule, and parents and students can both access a student's daily schedule in the Genesis Parent and Student portals.
Parents please note that school starts promptly at 7:20am. Any student not in homeroom by 7:20am is considered late to school. Students who are driving or being driven to school should arrive no later than 7:15am to allow for time to get to their classrooms. The doors to the school open at 7am daily.
We look forward to seeing many of you at Back to School Night this week!

WHS Schedules
Any student requesting a change of schedule must have done so by Friday, September 13th. The dropped course will not become a part of the studentโs permanent record. A student dropping a course after September 13th will have the course printed on his/her permanent record. The course will appear on the studentโs transcript as either Withdraw Pass (WP) or Withdraw Fail (WF) based upon the grade at the time of dropping the course. This policy for changes will be followed at all times.

โImportant Information
Cell Phone Policy
We have made changes to our cell phone policy that all students and parents should be aware of. In order to reduce distractions and disruptions in the classroom and to increase student focus and engagement, each student will be required to place their cell phone in a classroom phone caddy at the beginning of each instructional period when they enter the classroom. The cell phones will remain in the phone caddy until the end of the period. Students may not retrieve phones when going to the bathroom, nurse, guidance, etc. I surveyed our staff last year and found out that 50 percent of our teachers were already enforcing this policy or something similar. Furthermore, 100 percent of those teachers reported positive outcomes in their classroom as a result of separating students from their phones.
Students will still be allowed to use their phones during unit lunch. We ask parents and guardians to please use lunch time to message your student (10:20 a.m. to 11:02 a.m.) if you need to contact them during the school day. Any student using a cell phone or having it in plain sight in class or anywhere in school during an instructional period (in route to the bathroom, nurse, guidance, etc.) will have the phone confiscated for the remainder of the day and be disciplined accordingly. Students will be briefed on this new policy at the start of the school year, and we appreciate your support.

Scoir: College Platform
Scoir is a solution for students, supporters, counselors, and colleges focused on finding the right fit through a unified college search and planning network. This platform connects students to a powerful set of tools to help them identify their talents, search for their college fit, plan with their supporters, and apply when ready. As a parent/guardian, you play an integral role on Scoir by providing your student(s) with college suggestions, financial information, and general guidance.
**All visits are during Unit Lunch at 10:22 a.m. in the Counseling Office**
More visits will be added. Please check the College Visit Calendar for updates.

WHS Building Improvements - Summer 2024
Student bathrooms in multiple hallways were completely renovated and updated this summer. We anticipate most of those bathrooms to be complete and open on the first day of school. For pictures of the work feel free to visit the photo gallery on the Referendum tab of the district website. I plan to include pictures of the completed bathrooms in the next newsletter.
The north gym floor at the high school was sanded and repainted this summer and it looks better than ever! We will also be replacing the scoreboard in the next few weeks.
Thank you to our maintenance and custodial crews for all their hard work preparing our buildings to open on time!

๐ฝ๏ธ Lunch Information
WTPS Meal Application Information
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Children need healthy meals to learn. The Wall Township Board of Education offers healthy meals every school day at the prices listed on the WTPS website. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals and Summer EBT benefits.
The printable packet includes an application for free or reduced price meal benefits/ and a set of detailed instructions. For a convenient way to fill out the meal application go to https://www.payschoolscentral.com. WTPS utilizes PaySchools as an online lunch account for children to use to purchase lunch on a daily basis.
If your child received federal free or reduced price school meals during the 23-24 school year, please remember you need to complete a new application for the 24-25 school year prior to October 15, 2024.
If you choose to opt out from completing the meal application, you may fill out the linked Google Form.
If your children receive federal free or reduced price school meals, they may also be able to receive free or low-cost health insurance through Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare. Children with health insurance are more likely to get regular health care and are less likely to miss school because of sickness.
Because health insurance is so important to children's well-being, the law allows us to tell Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare that your children are eligible for free or reduced price meals, unless you tell us not to. Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare only use the information to identify children who may be eligible for their programs. Program officials may contact you to offer to enroll your children. Filling out the School Meals and Summer EBT Application does not automatically enroll your children in health insurance.
If you do not want us to share your information with Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare, you will have the option if submitting the meal application online via PaySchools or you may fill out the printable form and send in (Sending in this form will not change whether your children get free or reduced price meals).
Thank you for your cooperation.
