It is hard to believe that this is the last week of the school year. As summer approaches, you may want to consider some of BOUSD summer resources. Click HERE to access the BOUSD website that has information about a variety of summer options for students.
This Tuesday, Kona Ice will be on campus during 4th and 5th period for an iReady Award. Students who showed growth on the 3rd iReady diagnostic in Reading and/or Math will qualify for this treat. As you recall, students voted on an award they would like if they showed significant iReady growth. After much time and consideration, Kona Ice was the food truck that fit within our site budget that was allocated for this reward. Qualifying students will receive a special ticket that indicates the reporting period (4th or 5th period). They will use this ticket and redeem it at the Kona Ice truck to receive their delicious treat as a reward. Students will return to class after eating their treat. Congratulations!
The 45th annual 8th grade award ceremony is this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This is a special awards ceremony wherein various 8th grade students are recognized for a myriad of reasons. Some awards are school based while others are given by our local Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions Club. Our school PTO also gives a medal for outstanding citizenship. All award recipients received a personal invitation to attend this special event.
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony is on Thursday, May 30, 2024. Click the link to access the most updated information regarding promotion services BJH PROMOTION WEBSITE. The website includes information on promotion security bag checks as well as general and disabled parking. In addition, 8th grade students will participate in promotion practice on both Tuesday and Thursday morning to prepare for the ceremony. Please remember that promoting students will meet on the baseball field at 5:30 p.m. They will be picked up from the baseball field after the promotion ceremony. Families are welcome to take pictures on the grass portion of the baseball field after the event. Step and repeats will be available for photo opportunities.
Please Note: There is no late start this Wednesday and minimum day dismissal is on Thursday and Friday. School is dismissed at 12:40 p.m. on minimum days.
Lastly, the month of May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month. This is a month where we recognize the contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islanders to music, art, academics, etc. Look for an informational video in the weekly newsletter each week.
