December 2024 Newsletter
Principal's Letter
Happy Holidays, Greenbriar Community!
I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all our families for a restful, healthy, and safe holiday season. Please note that the last day of school for students is December 20th, with classes resuming on January 6th.
It is important to ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the cold weather, as we have noticed many students arriving at school without coats in freezing temperatures.
You are welcome to visit our airlock to check the lost and found. Any items not claimed by students will be donated to the women's shelter.
Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, and I sincerely appreciate everything you do for our students.

Student Council - Breakfast With Santa!
Our very first Breakfast with Santa was an unforgettable success! Families gathered for a morning filled with holiday magic, enjoying a delicious warm breakfast of pancakes and sausage. Santa himself made a special appearance, spreading joy and posing for memorable photos with the children. The event was made even more special thanks to the talented students from Normandy High School—cosmetology students delighted kids with festive face painting, while carpentry students showcased their skills by creating the fantastic photo cutouts that brought the event to life. Even the Grinch couldn’t resist joining in the fun (though his antics kept everyone on their toes)! Little ones also got creative with festive crafts, making keepsakes to treasure. The smiles and laughter from everyone who joined truly warmed our hearts. We can’t wait to make this beloved tradition even bigger and better next year!

Greenbriar’s Focus on Attendance
On November 8, 2024, we recognized the top team in each grade who had the best attendance. The top teams in each grade were: 5X, 6Y, 7Z, and 8Z. These winning teams participated in a donut party. We would like to thank both Giant Eagle and Krispy Kreme Donuts for their generous support with these celebrations. Please show your appreciation by supporting these businesses.
During the month of November, students were encouraged to design a poster using our attendance motto for this year, “Attend today, achieve tomorrow.” The top 6 designs were then shared with students and staff and everyone was given an opportunity to vote for their favorite design. Over 500 votes were cast!!! Illia Ilchuck (7th grader) submitted the winning design. Students will see his winning design around the building in the near future! Congratulations to Illia! He was awarded a $10 gift card from the PBIS Committee.
To promote and celebrate positive school attendance, students are invited to participate in a “Stay in the Game” contest for Browns Tickets!!! Students who are eligible may enter the contest to win a set of two tickets OR a set of three tickets to go to the December 29th game where the Browns will take on the Miami Dolphins at 8:20 PM at Huntington Field. Students will complete a Google Form to enter the raffle. To be eligible, students should have missed three or fewer days in the first quarter OR improved their attendance since last school year. This contest is available to ALL middle school students across the district. The form must be submitted by the end of the day on Friday, December 13, 2024. The winners will be announced the following week.
If you would like to check out our weekly attendance winners up to this point, or follow along each week, check out the slideshow of winners (also posted on the Greenbriar webpage).
