ASD Virtual Summer classes take place online and do not require attending a school site. For Credit Recovery courses, the session runs June 3 - June 27. Correspondence courses may be used for credit recovery, grade replacement, or original course attempt. Prior to beginning a course, students must have written approval from the Curriculum Principal and a parent/guardian. The most popular correspondence programs for CHS students include BYU, University of Nebraska, and University of North Dakota. Others may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Full details and guidelines are available at: Credit by Choice.
• Dates: Once approved, students can start at any time.
• Fee: Varies, depending on the program. Fee paid by the student's family.
Work Experience
If you are planning on working a job this summer, you could earn ½ elective credit for every 112.5 hours of work (up to a maximum of 1.5 credits). You must be employed at a supervised, approved site and the employer must pay at least minimum wage. Copies of pay stubs will be required to document hours. Some additional paperwork and assignments may be required. All summer work credits are managed by ASD Virtual, so to sign up you should enroll in the ASD Virtual Summer Session and select the course, Work Experience Online. This is a great way to earn elective credit in school while you are earning money at work!
