BIG BLUE BASKETBALL CAMP @ BHS
Dear Birch Families,
In response to the many inquiries we've received in the past few years regarding resources for families to support students with healthy technology usage, we are excited to announce an upcoming presentation that addresses an important topic: the mental health vulnerabilities associated with digital media use and screen time.
In collaboration with district-level support, we invite you to join us for this enlightening session, which will cover:
The effects of smart devices, social media, and video gaming on mental health.
Insights into brain science and the addictive nature of digital media.
Guidelines for introducing smart devices to children (e.g., smartphones, mobile gaming devices, iPads).
Current research on how early exposure to devices for entertainment and learning can impact skills like reading and writing, self-esteem, and emotional regulation.
This presentation will be held at our neighboring school, Emerald Elementary, and we encourage Birch parents to attend. Gather your friends and plan to join us together!
As a community, it is crucial that we support the ever-rising social-emotional needs of our students. Let’s work together to ensure we are doing what is best for our children.
Please see the attached invitation for details. We look forward to seeing you there!
