CIS Weekly Updates

This week, our students will be celebrating Start With Hello Week. Each year, thousands of schools and youth organizations nationwide participate in Start With Hello Week, a national call-to-action week dedicated to making new social connections and creating a sense of belonging among youth. Click here to learn more about what we are doing. Our school counselors support this initiative.

Conferences are coming up this week and next week. If you haven't heard anything about conferences, please contact your student's teacher. We also have additional conference nights in November and February.

Picture Day is FRIDAY! Students will take individual pictures and class pictures. We will have indoor recess on Friday, so students stay clean for their photographs. We will have a picture retake day on November 22nd. Please see the picture day information below.

Please bring the money, along with the form on picture day to give to the photographer !

Parents who have multiple children will need to place a separate prepay order per child.

Our first PTO fundraiser of the school year was a HUGE SUCCESS! Students and families did a great job of promoting reading and raising funds for our PTO initiatives this school year. Mr. Cobb will be duct-taped to the wall on Friday, October 4th. We will also have a donut party for the two participants from each class. Readathon.com will send us prizes for students. Last year it took a while, but we will hand them out once they arrive.

The Wadsworth Public Library is partner with the Wadsworth City School District to provide a monthly book club for fifth and sixth graders.

Participating students will meet monthly with a member of the Library’s Children’s, Youth and Outreach Services department to discuss the title selected. The Library staff will reserve the book discussion titles using the library card number that you provide. Books will be delivered to the students at school and books can be returned the day the club meets for discussion.

• Please be aware that the discussion books will be reserved and checked out onto the card number you provide by Library staff.

• Cardholders are responsible for any fees associated with any damaged or lost books.

• If your child is not able to attend a meeting, please return their book discussion book to their school or to Wadsworth Public Library as soon as possible.

• Books will be selected by Library staff and will vary in degrees of difficulty.

• Library staff will renew items not returned at the meeting one time, but please contact the Library if you think you have lost the book, already returned it or have any other questions about the Library materials. You can contact the Library at 330.334.5761 or by email at childrens@wadsworthlibrary.com.

Currently the last session still has availability. Chess Club meets on Tuesdays after school from 3:30pm to 4:10pm. The cost is $15.

You can help! Throughout the year we collect food items listed below and send bags home over the weekend for students in need. Please consider helping in this way because our students and families really appreciate the extra food over the weekends.

Our attendance clerk, Mrs. Long, is the contact person for calling off your student and any change of dismissal plans throughout the day. Please call the Attendance Line to reach her and leave a message. The phone number to her desk is 330-335-1481. We recommend you let the attendance desk/teacher know when your student will be absent, leaving early, or arriving late. Letting us know when your child will leave early allows us to be prepared for when you arrive. We ask that all end-of-the-day dismissal plans be made by 2:45 p.m. Thank you for your efforts!
