Straight from the Hardt
Hello Ridgeline Families- Just like that, our beautiful fall season is winding down quickly! Both the weather and activities. I was talking with a colleague this week and the topics were the weather, yard work, and our achy joints… we caught ourselves and got a good laugh, realizing we’re officially old when that is the highlight of our conversation! But, we’re ready to embrace our age and the changing of the weather!
We’re excited for our soccer and volleyball teams who have clinched a spot in the playoffs! We celebrated our senior volleyball team members Thursday night, and it was especially sweet because we won the GSL Title!
We’re still cheering on our football and cross country teams as they find out soon if a post-season is in the cards!
You always have to keep in mind that our students involved in extra-curriculars are also taking full academic loads, so they are very busy and work very hard. It’s also a good reminder for us parents to help our teens find balance and time for rest during these long weeks and often busy weekends.
Get ready for next week and future coming events—here are a few highlights…
First, this coming Tuesday, Oct. 29, Ridgeline is hosting the East Region Small Learning Community Link Night. Starting promptly at 6pm you can get an opportunity to hear, in depth and detail, all about the status of Central Valley School District and our East Region schools. Superintendent, Dr. John Parker, will be sharing a “state of the district” overview that is always informative and helps all gain a better understanding of district operations and management of resources. BONUS EXTRA!... arrive EARLY to enjoy pizza, hot dogs, dessert, and Italian sodas! BONUS-BONUS EXTRA!... Following Dr. Parkers presentation, ALL East Region schools will be on hand with staff and students to showcase some of the unique and engaging opportunities available to our students from kindergarten through twelfth grade! This portion of the night is an “Open House” and encourages in-person participation with staff and students who are excited to share more about what we do with our community. Hope to see you here, you can pre-register at the link below (this helps us with numbers, but not required).
Since it’s the last week of October, we’re having a “HalloGreen” themed spirit week. Check out the dress up days, including Halloween costumes, in the Flyer below. You can get the family started with Trick or Treating fun early with our annual Trunk or Treat event on Monday night, October 28, from 6-7:30pm. This is a very fun and safe event and is enjoyed as much by our high school kids as it is our younger trick or treaters!
We want to honor all Veterans! Submissions for our Honor Wall are due Oct. 31. Community members are also invited to our Veteran’s Day Assembly, Friday, Nov. 8, 8:30am.
You also don’t want to miss out on, “The Plot, Like Gravy, Thickens”. Tickets are ON SALE now, and if you’ve been following our weekly show posts in the newsletter, you can see that, Like Gravy, the list of suspects is getting much thicker too!
For parents of students in AP courses, we have a very detailed reminder of important dates and timelines. Your student is registered for the test unless they opted out. NOVEMBER 8 is the final day to cancel a test with no penalty. PLEASE READ this section so you are not caught by surprise. This policy is all driven by the College Board and we do not have control over it. They bill our school, and we are responsible for any unpaid fees.
My final thought for the week is gratitude and appreciation for our School Resource Officer, Dave Howard (pictured with me here)! We are fortunate to have a partnership and support from the Liberty Lake Police Department. Officer Howard’s presence in our school elevates our level of security and positively impacts our school climate at the same time. He is an integral member of our Student Services team and assists with supervision, communication, threats, investigations, and much more. He also assists and supports ALL of our East Region schools. One of Dave’s greatest strengths is his ability to connect with our students. He understands and values the power of having positive relationships with the kids. They love it when he is involved in school activities, assemblies, and as an assistant track coach! Dave is a true Falcon through and through!
Enjoy some good news and great things happening in our school, take a look over today’s Falcon Flyer!
Make it a great weekend! --Mr. Hardt

AP Environmental Science
This month, Ms. Larsen’s AP Environmental Science students had the opportunity to work with the Lands Council and learn about the importance of riparian zones (land that occurs along waterways). Students spent the day planting trees and learning how those trees will eventually provide shade for the water, creating cooler, more oxygen rich environments for organisms. The trees also prevent erosion and help filter pollutants from entering the water. They also learned about beaver dam analogs and how they can affect water flow and water quality. We are very fortunate to have a partnership with the Lands Council, who provides funding and educational opportunities for our Falcons to get hands on, real world science experience. You can find more of the great things they do at https://landscouncil.org/
Veterans Honor Wall
2024 Ridgeline HS Veterans Honor Wall
We would like to honor the veterans in your family during Veterans Day next month. We have a few questions and you can upload a photograph of your family members and closest friends who have served. These vets will be honored during the assembly and throughout the week on our video screens in the Commons.
You can only fill out one form, but each form can accept up to 5 veterans. We are requesting students and staff to fill out information for one veteran, but you can add up to four more if you have a lot of service history in your immediate family.
Photographs in uniform are wonderful, but it is not required that uploaded photos are of someone in their uniform. Please complete submissions by Thursday, Oct. 31 so we can include your honorees in the assembly the following week. Thank you for helping us honor those who you are close to. Veterans Day is an important day to celebrate our service men and women.

Graphic Arts 1 students
The Graphic Arts 1 students used their Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud skills learned so far this semester to create Ridgeline Fall Event Flyers promoting upcoming October and November school events. They also incorporated the various design principles we have covered such as Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, Proximity. Color Theory, Typography, and Emphasis. They did a great job with their designs and it’s such a fun way for them to raise awareness about an aspect of their life at Ridgeline High School that they are passionate about. Check out the display of flyers on the second floor to see what’s happening the next couple of months. Nice work, Ridgeline Graphic Designers! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

RHS DECA & FBLA
Ridgeline FBLA and DECA proudly own the title of largest school chapter in attendance at the NE Region 2024 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference!
Congratulations to Teigan Bronec, our FBLA NE Region Vice President (a Ridgeline Junior), for planning, organizing, and running an incredibly successful 2024 FBLA Fall Leadership Conference on October 17th for our NE Region FBLA and DECA students. It was the largest regional fall conference in the history of the NE Region with 325 student members in attendance. Teigan, it was an honor to have you represent our NE region, and Ridgeline High School.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you, Falcon FBLA and DECA members for representing Ridgeline so professionally. We had the largest chapter attendance at this fall conference with 64 Ridgeline Business Club members present.
At the conference, area chapter members learned from local industry experts in the fields of mechanical engineering, business, entrepreneurship, political science, IT & computer science, and cyber security through an engaging opening keynote speaker, and through multiple industry guest speaker workshops. It was also a valuable opportunity to network with other NE region chapter members, and the industry guests.
One chapter member said, “I learned that no matter what career a person decides to go into, having business knowledge is extremely valuable in determining my success.” Another student said, “These are the types of experiences we will remember from high school.” These are both great examples of how joining FBLA and/or DECA will help students gain important business knowledge even if they don’t plan on having a business career after high school. See Mrs. Demarest in E202 or Mrs. Fletcher in E204 for more information about joining the Ridgeline Business Club.
Now, it’s time for our FBLA and DECA chapter members to take what they learned at the conference and prepare for competition season! Let’s go, Falcons! Talons up!🙌
