Hello Pine Families!
It's the last week before Christmas Break! Let's finish this half of the year strong and keep learning each day! Demonstrating the habits of character, following procedures, and meeting expectations will only help each student learn even more! Congrats to all Pine Panthers who have earned Pennies to shop from the Mobile Munchies cart and especially to those who have signed the Panther Pride wall! It's also Holiday Spirit Week. All Panthers are invited to join us in the themes for each day. You can also consider purchasing a Candy Cane gram for a staff member or friend! Only $1 each!
Our girls basketball team has their final home game this Tuesday, and their last game of the season at Springfield on Friday. Also on Tuesday, our Student Council is hosting a Giveback Night at Hacienda. Come have a delicious meal and support our school! Wednesday at 6:00 the Showcase for our 2nd and 3rd grade students will take place. This program will also include a special presentation about Michigan City suffragist Naomi Anderson. We hope to see you there!
I hope everybody has a wonderful break, a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. Monday, January 6th will be an asynchronous eLearning Day (teachers will be sending home assignments by this Friday) and we'll see everybody back at Pine on Tuesday, Jan 7 so that the learning can continue.

Student Council Food Drive!
Our food drive continues all this week! Please donate non-perishable food items and/or winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves to help support community members in need. Pine student council reps will be available by the cafeteria each morning during arrival to help collect and sort your donations. The class who donates the most will earn a pizza party too!
Be on time and ready to learn!
Doors open at Pine each morning at 8:15. Students have until 8:45 to arrive, have breakfast, and wait with their classmates in the gym. Teachers pick up students by 8:35 to head to classrooms. Students arriving after 8:45 are marked tardy. Be sure your children arrive on time!
Late arriving students should be walked into the office by a family member and signed in. Please refrain from dropping students off at the curb without checking them in. Student absences should be called into the office. Students learn most when they are at school each day! Let's work together to have the best attendance possible!
Arrival Procedures
Doors open at Pine at 8:15 AM. Parents dropping off students at school should only use the north parking lot by the Red Pod. PreK families, students requiring special assistance, and families who need to visit the office may park in the south lot by the main entrance, otherwise this area is designated only for school buses. Breakfast is served from 8:15 - 8:45. Students arriving after 8:45 will be marked tardy. Attendance matters!
Dismissal Procedures
The final bell rings at 3:00. Bus riders will be escorted by their teachers to their proper buses. Boys and Girls Club members will report to the cafeteria. Car riders will report to the red pod where staff will organize them per our dismissal procedures. Parents picking up students should join the line around the north parking lot. Please comply with all instructions and expectations while remembering that student safety trumps adult preferences at all times. Parents must communicate any changes in dismissal plans to the office before 2:00 to ensure they are shared with teachers.
