We received an Arts Council grant to provide this free art workshop at the Perry Public Library for teens taught by local artist Pam Hill. Using various provided supplies like hammers, Gesso, sandpaper, and (of course) colored pencils, teens will create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry on a copper shape.
- All materials provided free of charge for those who register
- Registration is required
- Seating and materials are limited
We are making GNOMES at November's Crafternoon Event
Using mini wooden spoons and various tiny bobbles, come and make a gnome to hang in your home or add a magnet to the back and hang it on the refrigerator.
Registration not required, but appreciated so we can prepare.
Free of charge while materials last.
Bring your stuffy to the Library to have an overnight adventure!
How does it work?
- On Tuesday, November 26th between 6 and 7 pm, bring your stuffy to the Perry Public Library.
- You will fill out an information paper to tell us about your stuffy. We will have these available, but if you are going to be in a rush on Tuesday night, print out the attached pdf. and fill it out before drop off. Be sure to fill out both sides.
- You will make a name tag for your stuffy and have your picture taken with stuffy.
- Then, you will tuck them in for bed and say goodbye.
- In the morning at 11:30 am, come back to the Library to pick up your stuffy. You can stay to hear a story and watch a video of your stuffy's sleepover adventures. (The video from a previous sleepover is attached.)
Tip:
Choose your BRAVEST stuffy to stay over, not your favorite one. Your favorite stuffy might be too sad to sleep all night without you, but your bravest stuffy will come back and tell the other stuffies what a fun time was had.

Viral Book Trend Coming to Perry Public Library in 2025
Crochet Granny Square Book Blankets!
Have you seen the latest book trend? Well we have and now we are starting a book club so you can participate too! We are calling it Hooked on Covers and it is going to start in January 2025.
This is how it will work:
- Each month we will choose a new book to read and yarn colors that coordinate with the book's cover.
- When you check out the book, you can get a small bag full of yarn to crochet a cover matching Granny Square. Instructions on how to crochet a basic Granny Square will also be included.
- Four times a year, we will meet at the Library to discuss the books read, upcoming reads, show off our squares, and/or get help crocheting a Granny Square.
- At the end of the year, you will have (at least) 12 crochet squares you can put together into a blanket showcasing your reading and crocheting accomplishments for the year.
- No obligation to crochet or attend book discussions.
- Crochet hooks will be available to borrow from the Perry Public Library.
- Books will vary in genre, including Young Adult, Adult Fiction, and Nonfiction.
- Recommended ages will be for readers ages 15 and up.

A Word of Thanks
Last month we were fortunate to offer 2 training courses for our tween and teen patrons: Home Alone and Babysitting. These courses were taught by Epic Trainings and while worth the price, they are pretty costly to offer. We were able to provide these courses this time with very generous funding from our Friends of Perry Public Library group, but just before the courses began, we realize how long the waiting list had grown. Thankfully with a last minute kind donation from James and Mary Liberti, were able to move a few patrons from the waiting list to the class. We are so grateful to our donors for helping us meet the community's needs!
We are looking to offer these courses again in the spring. If you would like to help make this possible with a financial donation, please contact the library director at perrylibrarydirector@owwl.org. If you are interested in having your tween or teen attend a course in the spring, please watch for an announcement in the coming months. We will post details in an upcoming issue of our newsletter and on our website.
