Parkway Parent Post
October 2024
Message from Mrs. Harless
October is here, and it will be a busy and exciting month! We have fun events like Science Week, Book Fair, Breakfast and Books, Pizzingo, Red Ribbon Week, Marco's Spirit Night, and more! Check out the rest of this month's newsletter for details.
VATRE
In MISD, we provide all the amenities of a large, urban district with the small-town feel of a close-knit community. New and modern facilities and advanced programs attract great families and outstanding teachers, but programs and people cost money. With voter approval, the VATRE would generate $3.7 million annually in local funding and another $3.7 million annually in state funding for staff salaries and campus safety. Without voter approval, the district cannot access the $3.7 million annually in local funding, and likewise, the district will not get the $3.7 million annually in state funding to be used for staff salaries and campus safety.
Please visit the Money Matters website for more information.
Science Week-Courtesy of MPES PTO
Magnolia Parkway is celebrating science week from October 15th through 18th! We are excited about everything in store for our students, from hands-on experiments to reptile encounters to Yuck shows and beyond! Shows and presenters are The Yuck Show, The Learning Zoo, Mad Science, Little Beakers, NASA, and even Ms. Frizzle will make an appearance. Thank you, Parkway PTO, for providing this fun event for our students!
PIZZINGO!
What's better than pizza and BINGO??? Magnolia Parkway is excited to host our second Pizzingo night on October 15th from 5:30 to 7:00 at the Magnolia Event Center. We want to make sure we have plenty of supplies. If you plan to attend, please fill out the following form.
We would love to raffle off a few goody baskets at the event. If you have anything you would like to donate, such as gift cards, fall decor, board games, etc., please drop it off at the front office.

Attendance Information
Our attendance goal for this year is 96%. We need your help getting our kids to school and setting them up for success. Good attendance and work habits start now! When your child needs to be out, please remember to send in a note. You can have your child bring it to the office or email our registrar at jkirk@magnoliaisd.org.
We hit our goal for August with 96% attendance! Congratulations to 2nd grade for the highest attendance rate for the month.
