Principals Message
I would first like to start off by giving a huge ovation to the cast and crew of “A Christmas Carol” for an excellent two night performance. These students and their advisors spent so many long nights here after school to prepare to put on the best performance possible and they did not disappoint!
Congratulations to our eight students who will be competing in states for swimming. Their accomplishments have been truly remarkable and we wish them luck! In other athletics news, our winter sports season began this week. This includes Wrestling coming back to East after several years of having a combined program with North High School. We know our athletes will represent East High School with good sportsmanship and pride all season long.
Congratulations to Alexis Stutzman and Hailey Hayes who both signed their Division 1 commitment letters last week! Alexis will be going to the University of Tennessee and Hailey will be going to Loyola University.
Thank you to all of the parents/guardians for joining us last week for Family Conferences. We had a strong turnout and it was great to see so many parents/guardians involved in their child’s education. We will have one more Family conference Night on Thursday, December 12th from 5-8pm. Sign ups for December 12th were emailed out last week.
This is the season of giving and East students have stepped up to help our community but also communities in another state. Our Youth Leadership organization is running our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive which runs through November 22nd. So far, the donations have been generous and if you still would like to donate please have your child bring in non-perishable items up until the November 22nd deadline. This year, The Turkey Basket Project is looking to feed over 400 families. Thank you to our school UNICEF organization who helped to gather items here at the school for Hurricane Helene Relief. Three large bins full of items will be sent down to North Carolina to aid in recovery efforts. It is great to see our students and their families contribute to such worthy causes.
Lastly, on behalf of the faculty and staff we would like to wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving. We hope you are able to take some time to unplug, unwind and spend this holiday with the people you cherish the most.
Respectfully,
Jason T. Swenson

Seal Of Biliteracy 2024-2025
Seal of Biliteracy
The District’s application to offer the New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Seal of Biliteracy program at each of our high schools was approved for the 2024-2025 school year.
The New York State Seal of Biliteracy (NYSSB) recognizes high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages, in addition to English.
The intent of the NYSSB is to encourage the study of languages; identify high school graduates with language and biliteracy skills for employers; provide universities with additional information about applicants seeking admission; prepare students with twenty-first century skills; recognize the value of world and home language instruction in schools; and affirm the value of diversity in a multilingual society. The NYSSB takes the form of a special seal that bestows an honor to the student. The seal is affixed on the student’s diploma and there is a notation of the award on the official transcript.
